Mexico has become one of the hottest vacation destinations in the world and Los Cabos is near the top of the list of favorites for foreign tourists, particularly from the U.S.  Tourism officials knew that 2022 was going to be a good year for the industry but they probably didn’t expect to be breaking records by the end of the year, but that is exactly what happened.  In fact, it was just reported that Los Cabos has broken its all-time visitor record by hosting over 7 million tourists this year.

Understanding Los Cabos

Los Cabos is made up of two unique cities that provide a wide range of activities to enjoy, including a long list of outdoor activities and adventures.  Cabo San Lucas is more vibrant and busy, with many of the most popular beaches, and San Jose del Cabo is more laid-back and offers more authentic experiences.  Los Cabos International Airport is located in San Jose del Cabo and serves both cities.

Airport Renovations

The airport has been undergoing some renovations to keep up with the tourism demand.  In addition to more gates being added to Terminal 2, another terminal, Terminal 3 is also currently being constructed and is expected to be completed by next year.  Now, as the airport prepares for even more tourists, it just announced that it exceeded its 7 millionth passenger during the holiday season.

Neighboring Countries

One of the reasons that Los Cabos has become so popular among American tourists is the close geographical proximity of the Baja California Peninsula to the United States.  The region is connected to the U.S. state of California, which not surprisingly due to its luxury amenities, makes it extremely popular among American celebrities as well. The close proximity is also the reason it’s so easy to travel to the region by air, in many cases fairly quickly too.

A Destination With A Lot To Offer

In addition to being close to the U.S., Los Cabos also has a lot to offer for tourists.  A striking desert landscape that surrounds stunning beaches, a long list of luxury all-inclusive resorts to choose from, and never-ending possibilities for outdoor activities are what draw the millions of tourists who visit Los Cabos.  It truly is a destination that has everything.
