Over 7 million passengers have walked through Los Cabos International Airport terminals in 2023.

More than half of those passengers were international travelers visiting Los Cabos.

In response to the growing popularity of the destination, the airport has undergone some transformations over the last few years to serve visitors better.

Those updates have paid off in a big way because Los Cabos Airport was just voted one of the best airports in the world and given the 2023 Quality Service Award.

Based on passenger opinion, the award is given out yearly by Airports Council International.

Los Cabos – The 3rd Busiest Airport In Mexico

Los Cabos Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country, the third busiest to be exact.

Located just 8 miles outside of San Jose del Cabo and about 28 miles from Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos Airport welcomes millions of tourists each year.

The airport is operated by the Pacific Airport Group, which has two other airports, in addition to Los Cabos, that made it to the list of the best airports in the world.

Service That Deserves To Be Awarded

Airports are awarded the Quality Service Award by the International Council of Airports.

The award is given based on the overall satisfaction of travelers throughout the year.

For 2023 Los Cabos Airport was one of 400 airports given this prestigious award.

Recent Updates Made To The Airport

Several updates have been made to improve the passenger experience at Los Cabos Airport to keep up with the growing demand.

The most important updates for international tourists are the updates to the airport’s Terminal 2.

Over 70 percent of the country’s visitors arrive at this terminal, which has added gates to better meet traffic needs.

Los Cabos Airport Amenities

The satisfaction of passengers using any airport is at least partly determined by the amenities available upon arrival and departure.

Having enough gates, immigration agents, transportation options, luggage handlers, and so on makes arrival in Los Cabos much more efficient.

For those departing from Los Cabos, lounges, restaurants, bars, shopping, and comfortable waiting areas can make all of the difference after a long vacation.

Arriving At Los Cabos Airport

Arriving at any international airport can be an intimidating experience, especially if you’ve never done it before, but bad experiences are rare.

When arriving in Los Cabos, the process is pretty straightforward.

You go through immigration, get your bags, and head outside to meet your transfer driver.

There are two things to avoid when arriving in Los Cabos, though, and doing so will result in a better experience.

One is the shark tank, where all of the timeshare salespeople are located, and the other is the currency exchange kiosks because you can get better rates in town.

Departing From Los Cabos Airport

The amenities when departing from an international airport are even more important than when arriving because you spend a lot more time there.

When departing from Los Cabos Airport, you’ll want to arrive about three hours before takeoff, so it’s important to have certain comforts.

In Los Cabos, you’ll find several lounges that run around $50 for entry, many restaurant options to choose from, and duty-free shopping to occupy your time while waiting to board for departure.

Los Cabos Airport Transportation

Another important factor when it comes to making an airport a good airport is the available transportation options.

At Los Cabos Airport, you have most of the usual options.  Taxis, shuttles, public buses, and private transportation are all available.

The only option you don’t currently have in Los Cabos is Uber, so this is something to prepare for, as other options do cost more.
