We love sharing big hospitality news with our readers, and this one’s a head-turner: Delano is officially coming to Los Cabos.
The lifestyle brand, part of Ennismore (majority-owned by Accor), has confirmed Delano East Cape is slated to open in 2029.
It would be the first Delano in Mexico—and it’s headed to one of Baja’s most serene stretches of coast.

What we know so far
According to Ennismore’s recent Americas growth update, Delano East Cape is planned with 117 guestrooms and 60 branded residences on a 100-meter beachfront site. The project calls for five restaurants and bars, event spaces, and an expansive wellness center and spa—details that line up with the brand’s design-led, social, and wellness-forward DNA. Timelines can shift, but the target opening remains 2029.
Ennismore also reiterated its broader Mexico push (Hyde, The Hoxton, Mama Shelter) and name-checked Los Cabos in that slate—an encouraging sign that Delano East Cape isn’t a one-off idea, but part of a larger, active pipeline.

So… what is Delano known for?
If you’ve followed hospitality for a while, you know Delano’s reputation: chic, design-driven hotels with lively social spaces (think the Rose Bar), sophisticated dining, and wellness that feels elevated, not perfunctory.
The best reference point is Delano Miami Beach, an icon currently being reimagined for a late-2025 reopening, with refreshed rooms and suites, new pools and amenity decks, a modern spa and wellness studio, and the return of that beloved Rose Bar energy. Expect the Los Cabos outpost to chase a similar “stylish and social, yet serene” vibe—though final programming for East Cape isn’t confirmed yet.

Why the East Cape is a perfect match
Los Cabos’ East Cape is the region’s hush-hush escape: wide-open sands on the Sea of Cortez, desert-meets-mountain scenery, starry skies, and long, swimmable stretches compared to the wave-pounded Pacific side. It’s also the natural gateway to Cabo Pulmo National Park, a UNESCO-recognized marine sanctuary home to the Gulf of California’s only coral reef—catnip for snorkelers and divers.
Better yet, the East Cape feels remote without being hard to reach. Resorts in the La Ribera/Costa Palmas area quote around 45 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) along Highway 1; factor in traffic and stops, and you’re still in “easy day-trip” territory from San José del Cabo. (If you plan to venture deeper on dirt roads, ask your hotel about current conditions.)

What travelers can likely expect (educated guesses)
Based on Delano’s current playbook and the limited info released, here’s our best guess on what could be coming—flagged clearly as speculation until the developer shares more:
- Design-forward rooms & residences with a light, airy aesthetic and strong indoor-outdoor living. (Delano’s Miami refresh leans this way.)
- Scene-setting bars and chef-driven restaurants—five venues are planned—which could bring a fresh dining anchor to the East Cape.
- Serious wellness (spa, movement studio, maybe a dedicated recovery or longevity angle).
- Event spaces sized for buyouts, destination weddings, and intimate festivals—another plus for a coastline that values privacy.
What we don’t know yet
This is early days, and details may evolve. We don’t have: the exact site within the East Cape, design team credits, floor plans, restaurant partners, pricing, or a reservations timeline.
As with all long-lead resort builds, elements can change before opening. We’ll keep you posted the moment new information drops.

How to enjoy the East Cape now
Can’t wait until 2029? A few easy wins:
- Day trip to Cabo Pulmo: Book a guided snorkel or dive to experience one of the eastern Pacific’s most important reefs (and one of Baja’s top conservation success stories). Permits and guided operators help protect the park—go with pros.
- Make it a beach day: The Sea of Cortez side is famed for calmer water; ask your hotel for a swimmable beach recommendation that fits your group and the day’s conditions.
- Stay nearby: East Cape resorts sit within easy reach of SJD and San José del Cabo, making the area a peaceful add-on to any Cabo itinerary.

The bottom line
Delano East Cape signals another step in Los Cabos’ evolution into a global luxury capital—this time spotlighting the soulful, low-key East Cape.
With 117 keys, 60 residences, and a full slate of dining, wellness, and events, the project could become a new social hub on the Sea of Cortez. But for now, details are intentionally thin, and timelines can move.
