LOS CABOS, MEXICO – October 11, 2025, 4:00 AM MST – Residents and tourists in Los Cabos will wake up this morning to the impacts of Tropical Storm Raymond, which is now making its closest approach to the Baja California Peninsula. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the entire Los Cabos region.

While the storm has fortunately weakened overnight, its new, more direct path means it will bring significant weather to the area throughout the day today. Here at The Cabo Sun, we’re providing a clear, calm breakdown of what to expect based on the very latest official information from the National Hurricane Center.
The Latest Official Forecast
According to the latest 4:00 AM advisory from the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC), Tropical Storm Raymond has weakened, with maximum sustained winds now at 45 mph (75 km/h). However, its track is now forecast to pass very close to, or directly over, the southern tip of the peninsula on Saturday.

The primary threats for Los Cabos have shifted from the distant storm swells of yesterday to the direct impacts of heavy rainfall and tropical storm-force winds today. Authorities are urging particular caution due to the ground being already saturated from last week’s Hurricane Priscilla, which increases the risk of flash flooding.

What Travelers Can Expect Today: A Breakdown
1. Heavy Rain & Flooding Risk 🌧️ This is the primary concern for today. The NHC is forecasting rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches across the southern Baja California Peninsula.
- What it means: This amount of rain on already waterlogged ground could lead to flash flooding, mudslides, and road washouts, especially in low-lying areas and arroyos. Non-essential travel by car is not recommended during the heaviest downpours.

2. Tropical Storm-Force Winds 💨 Sustained winds of 39 mph (63 km/h) or higher are expected in the warning area today.
- What it means: Expect strong, gusty winds throughout the day. While not at a destructive hurricane level, these winds can still bring down tree branches and turn unsecured items into projectiles. All loose items on hotel balconies (towels, hats, etc.) should be brought inside immediately.
3. Dangerous Ocean Conditions 🌊 The ocean remains extremely dangerous and is strictly off-limits.
- What it means: The NHC is warning of “life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.” All beaches could be flying black flags today, meaning they are closed to swimming. The Port of Cabo San Lucas will most likely close and marine activities canceled. For your safety, you must stay far away from the water’s edge.

On The Ground: Closures and Safety
Los Cabos is well-prepared for this type of event. All hotels and resorts have activated their storm protocols and are the safest place to be. Guests are urged to follow all instructions from hotel management and local Civil Protection authorities.
The SJD International Airport currently remains open, but travelers should check directly with their airline for any potential delays or cancellations throughout the day.

The worst of the weather is expected today, Saturday. Conditions are forecast to improve rapidly on Sunday as Raymond moves inland and dissipates. The key for today is to be patient and safe. Heed all warnings, stay out of the ocean, and enjoy the safety and comfort of your resort.
