It’s not uncommon to spot celebrities in Cabo, and celebrity weddings are pretty common too, and the most recent was an American reality star, Toya Johnson. Ms. Johnson married her beau of six-plus years, Robert “Red” Rushing, in Cabo San Lucas on Saturday, October 15th. While there is no mention of where the wedding took place, it was a beautiful waterfront ceremony at a venue with spectacular views of Los Cabos.
There were numerous family members and friends in attendance at the wedding and in Cabo for the pre-wedding festivities. Many famous faces were included in the group, along with both of the bride’s daughters, one of which, the oldest, caught the bouquet. The reality star has an adult daughter from a previous marriage to Lil Wayne and a daughter with her now husband, that was born in 2018.
A number of friends and family of the bride were also part of the wedding and looked dazzling, along with the bride, dressed in flowing white gowns. The wedding party included well-known names and faces like Tiny Harris, Rasheeda, Monica Luckett, Letoya Luckett, Porsha Williams, Yandy Smith, and of course, daughter Reginae Carter, among others. The bride took to Instagram to share pictures of herself and all of the lovely ladies that were part of her special day.

Toya Johnson, now Toya Rushing, is best known for her roles in a number of BET reality tv shows that aired throughout the years. She starred in “Tiny & Toya” with friend and bridesmaid Tiny Harris in 2009-2010, then in 2011, she opened up about her life in “Toya: A Family Affair.” In 2016 Toya was in Season 5 of “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars,” and most recently, she was in “T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle,” which launched in 2018 and is featured on VH1.
The man that Toya Johnson married, Robert “Red” Rushing, is known for his management of a number of famous sports stars, including Dwight Howard and Tristan Thompson. Additionally, he has a clothing line called “2 Commas” that includes t-shirts, hoodies, footwear, and accessories. The new husband is also a former athlete himself, having played basketball while attending college at Troy University.
Toya Johnson is from New Orleans, LA, and her new husband is from Fort Gaines, GA, but the couple didn’t meet in either place. According to reports, they were introduced to each other by mutual friends while visiting Las Vegas in 2016. The couple then got engaged in 2019 when Rushing elaborately proposed to Johnson while they were enjoying a helicopter ride, and then they finally set a wedding date earlier this year.
Both members of the newly married couple shared their excitement with the world both before and after the wedding with Instagram posts. Prior to the wedding, Mr. Rushing shared a picture of the couple from early in the relationship with the comment, “2016 where it all started, now we here. Mrs. Rushing Let’s Do It!!! #RushingDownTheAisle,” and in the comments, Ms. Johnson replied that she was “ready to be his wife.” The bride also shared an image of herself breathtakingly beautiful in her wedding gown and commented, “Finally got my fairy-tale ending.”
Finally, the bride shared a photo of her and her new husband with the comment, “Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Rushing.” The rest is history… And while there was no information on the actual location of the wedding, there are many beautiful places in Cabo to get married, with vendors that can take care of every detail to have that fairytale moment, just like the new Mrs. Toya Rushing.
