Los Cabos is a vacation destination that many tourists visit to enjoy the beautiful beaches and have some serious fun, but there is another side to Los Cabos that visitors enjoy as well. For some, Los Cabos is a wellness destination that offers rest, relaxation, and the ultimate pampering that everyone deserves to have every now and then. You can have that too with one of a number of off-resort spa and wellness experiences that you can only do in Los Cabos.
The Capes – The Meaning of Los Cabos
Los Cabos translates to “The Capes,” and the term is used to describe the two cities, or two Capes, that makeup Los Cabos. Those two cities are Cabo San Lucas, or Saint Luke Cape, and San Jose del Cabo, or St. Joseph of the Cape. Both in these areas and in the nearby vicinity as well, there are unique spa and wellness experiences that you can have that will help you reconnect with yourself and we’ll highlight a few of them.
Spa Treatments
The resort you stay at will very likely have a spa in it but other local spas may have something different to offer that you may not be able to find at your resort. One unique option is the Farm Spa at Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo, where they offer unique nature-based treatments like an Herbal Soaking Tub Experience for $40 with the purchase of a massage, and the 90-minute Arroyo Stone Massage for $232. They also offer Yoga classes every day at 8:00 am for $35.

Santa Rita Hot Springs
While you may not want to visit hot springs in the middle of the summer, if you’re visiting during the winter it is the perfect time to experience them and there are a couple not far from Los Cabos, and they only cost a couple of U.S. dollars to enjoy. To get to the Santa Rita Hot Springs, which are less than two hours from Los Cabos, you barely even have to leave the main road that runs through Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. They are located within the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, hidden away among the hills and cacti, providing not only a spa-like experience but a connection with nature as well.
El Chorro Hot Springs
The El Chorro Hot Springs are in the same general area, about 20 minutes from the small town of Santiago. Although they are not as beautiful as the Santa Rita Hot Springs, they still offer a unique experience away from the hustle and bustle of Los Cabos. You’ll be able to relax in the thermal waters while taking in the sights of the desert surroundings and experiencing a much different side of the Baja California Peninsula.
Yoga and Meditation
There are a number of places in Los Cabos to enjoy yoga and meditation as well, and both are perfect activities to help you relax and rejuvenate during your Cabo vacation. A day pass at Rukhsana’s Wellness & Heavenly Retreat only costs $60 and allows you to utilize the property for six hours between 7 am – 1 pm. You’ll have access to a stone walking labyrinth, gardens, and a saltwater pool, as well as a mantra meditation session at 7 am, a hatha yoga session at 8:30 am, and brunch at 10 am, all included.
Temazcal Ceremony
Last but not least, you’ll have the opportunity to experience a true ancient Mayan tradition when visiting Los Cabos. A temazcal ceremony, which takes place in a small stone structure, is similar to a sweat lodge. It uses steam and herbs, along with the four elements of water, fire, air, and earth, to purify the spirit, body, and mind. One place where this experience is offered is the Milagro Spa in Cabo San Lucas, for a cost of $160 for an hour. Another option is the Temazcal Ceremony at Playa Grande Spa and tickets can be found on Expedia for $139 per person.
Wellness for Rejuvenation
A vacation is meant to be relaxing, a way to rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit. And while a Los Cabos vacation will take care of that anyway, it doesn’t hurt to treat yourself to a little extra pampering during your Cabo vacation.
