The local tourism board in Los Cabos is expecting the region to have its busiest peak season ever. Over 20% more tourists will be headed to the Mexican Pacific compared to 2021. This will take the total number of tourists in the region to over 3 million. This growth has not gone unnoticed by the hospitality industry. In fact, Los Cabos has one of the fastest-growing hotel industries in the world. More than 1,500 new hotel rooms are expected to be built in the area from the end of 2022 through 2024.

The US Market Is Expected To Be The Big Catalyst

1.3 million airplane seats are going to be made or have been made available for tourists coming from the US to Cabo. Those 1.3 million seats are going to be on planes heading to Cabo from October to March. This period traditionally represents the busiest time of year for Cabo.

In the 2022-2023 season, 35.2% more Americans are going to be able to make their way to Los Cabos compared to the pre-pandemic 2019 numbers. The American market is going to be the biggest contributor to Cabo’s historic peak season, but the U.S. won’t be the only country sending travelers to Cabo.

Canadian airlines are expected to offer up to 19% more seats to Los Cabos than what they offered in 2019. Traditionally Los Cabos has relied heavily on international tourism, but for the 2022-2023 season, local flights from other parts of Mexico are also set to increase. In fact, the domestic flight market is the fastest-growing of them all. With 95% more seats being offered to Cabo from other Mexican airports than in 2019. 

Los Cabos Offers A Wide Variety of Tourism Experiences         

As previously stated, more than 1,500 new hotel rooms are currently being built in Los Cabos. Some of these hotel rooms are going to be part of the new St. Regis, Four Seasons, or Park Hyatt resorts. Which are just a few of the new hotels that will call the region home. The Los Cabos tourism board claims that “the destination has been a long-standing pioneer in luxury travel, personalized service, and unique travel experiences”. It’s not just luxury travel options that tourists can find in Los Cabos, though. 

Multiple communities on the outskirts of the main cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo have been working to build eco-tourism facilities for travelers to enjoy. Current options include a facility at Rancho Cacachilas, which provides tourists with the opportunity to experience what it’s really like to live in the rural part of Mexico. The ranch gives tourists lessons on beekeeping and making cheese from goat’s milk. Proving that Los Cabos is more than a luxury resort destination. 

Will The Increased Number of Tourists Heading To Los Cabos Also Increase Travel Prices?

Currently, the average price for a hotel in Los Cabos per night sits at around 450 dollars. There has been speculation locally that this number is set to raise in the coming months or years due to the travel demand. Luckily in the next few days, multiple resorts are offering Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals that can help combat what seems to be an inevitable increase in prices. Most of these deals allow tourists to arrive within the peak season or even in other parts of the year. 

Oddly enough, when it comes to air travel, with the increase in the number of flights to Los Cabos, tourists who want to head over to this part of the Mexican Pacific are more likely to find deals on flights than they were before. Not only that, but it’s going to be easier to find flights to Los Cabos from more cities. Many of which did not feature Cabo flights in the pre-pandemic days.
