It seems like everyone wants to vacation in Mexico these days. Some of the most popular destinations are Puerto Vallarta, Cancun and of course, Los Cabos.
It’s always a tough decision to choose where to stay because you don’t want to mess it up and pick a place you’ll regret.
With Cabo, it’s a lot easier to pick your temporary refuge as you really can’t go wrong with all the options.
Some might choose a hostel if they’re flying solo, and others might pick one of Cabo’s many luxurious resorts.
However, Airbnbs are what is surging in popularity right now. In fact, it’s just ahead of Mexico City for bringing in the most revenue.
Here are 6 reasons why more and more travelers are choosing vacation homes in Los Cabos:
High Hotel Rates
Supply and demand can be a blessing and a curse for travelers. Right now, the demand is so hot for a Cabo vacation that hotel costs are through the roof!
With average nightly prices of $600, those seeking some fun in the sun south of the border are electing to stay at Airbnbs instead.
While many vacation homes don’t quite compare with an all-inclusive experience, that’s the sacrifice many travelers are making to save some big bucks.
More Privacy, Less Crowds
Resorts can be jam-packed, especially in the summertime. Cabo is such a popular vacation spot that certain travelers might actually be disappointed with the resort experience.
A little elbow room goes a long way. When staying at a vacation rental, most of the time you will have a lot more privacy and less crowds.

Unless you choose a beachfront home, then you might have some unsightly Speedos blocking your dream view of Cabo’s pristine blue waters.
As one can imagine, the beaches can become extremely crowded too with all walks of life.
More Rentals To Choose From
Cabo has not only been a hotspot for travelers but also the real estate market. Thanks to foreign buyers, real estate costs have also shot through the roof, along with hotel costs.
However, the silver lining in this is more vacation rentals have become available. There are a lot more options to choose from.
Beachfront rentals tend to be the priciest, and that’s not something every traveler can afford. More budget-friendly options inland are still convenient and affordable enough to make it an excellent choice.
5-Star Hosts
Airbnb released a report recently claiming Los Cabos is one of the most hospitable places in all of Mexico.
It’s not just Cabo, either. Cabo’s northern neighbors, Mulegé and Loreto, also made the list. What makes Cabo stand out is the high amount of 5-star reviews of local hosts as well as Airbnb Plus status.
Cabo is the only city in Baja California Sur to have Plus properties, and this is mostly due to the fact that hosts here are found to be super helpful to guests.
More Room For More People
All-inclusive resorts are great, but sometimes the rooms can be tight on space. For a bigger room, you have to dish out extra money when resorts are already typically expensive.
When you book a vacation rental, they tend to be more affordable and have more room. Whether it’s a traditional apartment with separate rooms or a spacious house, this can be a better option for groups.
Cabo is a popular place for a family trip or getaway with friends, so Airbnb tends to check off more boxes.
Airbnbs Are For Every Type of Traveler
You can find just about any type of accommodation on Airbnb. Ranging from quirky treehouses in the middle of the forest to more traditional beachfront homes in Cabo.
The mega-popular platform has become popular for every type of traveler, which suits Cabo’s tourism industry.
Solo travelers can use Airbnb’s new Rooms feature to save some dough, while families, couples and friends can book an entire private home with all the bells and whistles you could need on vacay.

Cabo Airbnbs not always as grand as you suggest. Our winter trip plagued by photo manipulations, furniture that belonged in the trash, lack of consistent hot water and pressure, and outright lies about the property. Plus scammed by car rental U-Save and high end restaurant in San Jose, and high prices where retailers want to be paid in US $. Spectacular coastline but can't always swim there. Will have to think twice about going back.
