Nearly everyone who vacations in Los Cabos is going to visit one of the destination’s gorgeous beaches at least once during the trip.
They are Los Cabos’ biggest attraction, and nearly always have people on them, both locals and tourists.
If you’ll be visiting anytime soon you can expect the beaches to be even busier than usual this summer, due to the persistent heat wave that does not seem to be ready to end.
Let’s take a look at why the heat plays such a big role in how busy Los Cabos beaches are.
Excessive Heat = More Beach Days
Los Cabos beaches are just popular among tourists visiting the destination.
Locals love the beaches too, and when it’s as hot as it has been, the beaches offer the perfect way to cool off.
So it’s no surprise that there has been a major influx of beachgoers in recent days, particularly on three of the area’s beaches.
Busiest Beaches In Los Cabos Right Now
According to reports, there are three favorite beaches among locals right now.
Those beaches are Playa Palmilla, Playa Chileno, and Playa El Corsario, also known as Playa Empacadora.
Each of these beaches is unique and offers something different, so we’ll explore its details.
Playa Palmilla
Playa Palmilla, or Palmilla Beach, is located along the Tourist Corridor just outside of San Jose del Cabo.
It is the first beach to ever be awarded the coveted Blue Flag status in Los Cabos.
Blue Flag beaches are beaches that meet strict criteria regarding water quality, accessibility, environmental standards, and cleanliness.
This is a quieter beach, and most days, the water at Palmilla Beach is calm enough for swimming.
There are lifeguards on duty and umbrellas to sit under at this popular beach, but you won’t find many vendors, which means you’ll want to bring food and drink with you when visiting.
Playa Chileno
Playa Chileno, or Chileno Beach, is located along the Tourist Corridor about midway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.
It is also a Blue Flag-certified beach.
There are facilities and lifeguards at Chileno Beach, but like Palmilla Beach, vendors are limited, so you should be prepared.
This is also a quieter beach known for its calm waters.
Playa El Corsario
Playa El Corsario, or Playa Empacadora, is one of the more accessible beaches if you’re staying in Cabo San Lucas and you’re not renting a car.
It’s located near the marina in Cabo San Lucas and is a quieter alternative to the very popular and super busy Medano Beach nearby.
Playa El Corsario is also Blue Flag certified, and the water is generally calm enough for swimming and other water activities.
This beach offers palapas to sit under, lifeguards, wheelchair access, and boat rentals.
Favorite Los Cabos Beaches Among Tourists
While Playa El Corsario is more frequented by locals, Playa Palmilla and Playa Chileno are both very popular among tourists as well.
Santa Maria Beach, which is a swimmable beach located right next to Chileno Beach, is also a popular beach for tourists.
Los Cabos’s most popular beach, though, is Medano Beach.
Here you’ll find the most action, as well as the most beach clubs, restaurants, watercraft rentals, and beach vendors.
Beaches To Get Even Busier As More Tourists Will Arrive Soon
In addition to the beaches being busier among locals, the summer season is about to bring in more tourists as well.
Currently, hotels are around 60 percent occupied, and tourism officials are expecting that number to climb to more than 70 percent between now and July.
If you’ll be visiting during this time, you can expect all of Los Cabos’s beaches to be pretty busy.
