Why Summer 2026 Is The Perfect Time For A Crowd-Free Los Cabos Vacation

Share The Article

Have you ever looked at a photo of Land’s End and wished you didn’t have to share the view with a hundred other people?

It turns out that Summer 2026 might be the quietest season we’ve seen in years.

We’ve been digging into the latest numbers, and the sea and beaches of Los Cabos are actually suffering from a massive absence of visitors right now. While this is a challenge for the local economy, it is an incredible opportunity for you to experience a totally peaceful side of Baja.

The Massive “Ghost Town” Stats

We are seeing some data that is honestly hard to believe. Since February, the Los Cabos Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiturca) has analyzed a downward trend in visitors that is picking up speed.

  • The U.S. market has seen a staggering 49% decrease compared to last year.
  • Canadian tourism has dropped by 23%.
  • National travel from within Mexico has also dipped by 16%.
  • Overall traffic at the International Airport fell by 2.5% in the first quarter of 2026.

Where Is Everyone Going?

You might be wondering why everyone suddenly ghosted our beautiful beaches. ✈️ There are a few big factors shifting the usual crowds away from the peninsula this year.

A major reason is that travelers are flocking to World Cup venues in Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City instead of hitting the coast. On top of that, international fuel prices are rising, which is putting pressure on everyone’s summer travel budget.

We’ve also seen some countries issue safety recommendations for certain areas of Mexico, which has made some travelers a bit more hesitant lately.

The Flight Reality Check

While fewer crowds mean more room for you, getting here might require a little more planning than usual. Some airlines are adjusting their schedules to deal with the lower demand.

  • At the end of April, Delta Airlines suspended its flights from Seattle to Los Cabos.
  • With fewer direct options, we may see slightly higher fares from the carriers that are still flying.
  • Fiturca is currently working with local experts to train tourism staff and ensure the “public image” of the destination stays top-notch.
