If you’re planning a trip to Los Cabos, you’re probably mostly going for the beaches, as so many other travelers who vacation in the destination do.

Los Cabos, which has the most Blue Flag-certified beaches in the country, has many beaches to choose from.

But if you want the best of the best, keep reading, because Los Cabos tourism authorities have revealed the top three beaches travelers love in Los Cabos.

Chileno Beach in Los Cabos, Mexico

Medano Beach

Medano Beach is the most popular beach in Los Cabos for tourists who want to enjoy a lively beach scene, swimming, and access to endless activities.

It’s centrally located in Cabo San Lucas near the marina and downtown areas, as well as plenty of fantastic hotels and resorts.

Medano Beach is almost always busy, with beachgoers enjoying water activities, restaurants, and beach clubs all along its shoreline.

Chileno Beach

Chileno Beach is another popular swimmable Los Cabos beach, but for the opposite reason Medano Beach is popular.

The smaller crowds than Medano Beach have drawn both locals and tourists to its shores.

Chileno Beach also has some of the best snorkeling conditions in Los Cabos.

Located along the Tourist Corridor, this beach is further from Cabo San Lucas, but tours do leave from Medano Beach that will take you to Chileno Beach.

Santa Maria Beach

Santa Maria Beach, which is located not far from Chileno Beach, is another quieter option compared to Medano Beach.

This beach is also known for great snorkeling and swimming because it has some of the calmest waters in Los Cabos.

This makes it the perfect beach for families visiting Los Cabos too.

Honorable Mention Beaches

These are just a few of the amazing beaches you can visit during your Los Cabos vacation.

There are several more that are worth visiting, some of which are suitable for swimming, and others that are more ideal for a long beach walk or spending the day sunbathing.

Other popular Los Cabos beaches include:

  • Lover’s Beach
  • Costa Azul Beach
  • Palmilla Beach
  • Divorce Beach
  • Acapulquito Beach

What Makes One Los Cabos Beach Better Than Others

There are several things that might make you choose one beach in Los Cabos over another.

The facilities available on the beach, the availability of umbrella and chair rentals, whether or not there are activities available, and what options there are for dining or having a drink are all factors to consider.

Additionally, the presence of a lifeguard makes a beach much safer than those that don’t have them.

Swimming At Los Cabos Beaches

Los Cabos has many amazing beaches, but as mentioned previously, not all of them are swimmable due to rough water conditions.

When you visit Los Cabos, you should always look for a beach warning flag upon arrival.

If you see a green flag it’s safe for swimming, but if you see a yellow flag you should be very cautious if you’re going to go into the water.

If you see a red or black, swimming is prohibited, and you should heed that warning.

Best Time To Enjoy Los Cabos Beaches

Los Cabos beaches can be visited pretty much any time of the year, but storm season does often make the waters more dangerous.

When it comes to water temperatures, they are at the warmest in September, and the air temperatures are a little more mild, making it a great time to visit.

In a destination that gets over 300 days of sunshine a year, though, there really aren’t too many bad days for a beach day in Los Cabos.
