There are a lot of activities to be enjoyed in Los Cabos, but one of the most popular things to do is take a boat tour while you’re visiting.
There are all kinds of tours available, from sunset dinner cruises with open bar to quick tours to see the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas and Land’s End.
With so many tour boats around, safety can become an issue, as seen recently when a tour boat overturned in Cabo San Lucas.
For this reason, it’s important to follow five safety tips for taking a boat tour in Los Cabos.
Choose A Legitimate Company
As with any vacation destination, there are those who go out of their way to make tourists enjoy their vacations, and then there are those who prey on tourists.
That being said, you have to watch out for those individuals, and fake tour providers are definitely one to keep an eye out for.
Book your tours through the tour companies themselves or through a trusted site like Viator to be sure you’re using a legitimate tour company.

Be Careful What You Sign For
In the case of the recent incident in Los Cabos, a passenger who was on the boat that overturned claimed that she lost some personal items.
The tour provider allegedly claimed that the passenger signed a waiver saying that they were not responsible for those items.
Whether or not it’s true is unknown, but it is an excellent reminder to be careful of what you sign when you book a tour.

Monitor The Weather
One of the biggest factors that contribute to the safety of a boat tour is the weather.
Windy days mean bigger, stronger waves, and foggy or rainy days mean minimal visibility.
If this is how the weather is when you have a boat tour booked in Los Cabos, you may want to skip it.
If you’ll be visiting Los Cabos when this weather is common, you might want to wait until the last minute to book a boat tour.

Comply With Rules
There are specific rules made for boat tour passengers that are important to follow.
Although they might vary from place to place and from one tour to the next, it’s important to follow whatever rules are imposed.
At the very least, you may be required to wear a life jacket on some tours, and certain items may be restricted.
Whatever the rules are, following them is important for safety.
Stay Alert
Should the unfortunate happen while on a boat and there is a problem, you want to be alert when it does.
Being aware of your surroundings and an issue as soon as it occurs could save your life.
Many of these tours include open bars and loud music, so it’s easy to get caught up in the moment and not pay attention.
Cost Of Boat Tours In Los Cabos
Boat tours in Los Cabos range in price considerably because they vary so much.
For a typical tour, you can expect to pay between about $50 – $100 per person.
Many tours fall into this price range, including various whale-watching tours, snorkeling tours, dinner cruises, and more.
