It doesn’t seem that long ago that the only ways to book a vacation were calling a hotel to make reservations and an airline to book tickets or hiring a travel agent.

These days, there are all kinds of options, from using Google to research everything and book each part of the trip online to booking a package deal online through an airline or OTA (Online Travel Agent).

The latter, online booking platforms, are one of the most popular ways to book a vacation today, and these are the four most popular booking platforms Los Cabos travelers are using right now.

These Are The 4 Most Popular Booking Platforms Los Cabos Travelers Are Using Right Now

Airbnb

Airbnb, a vacation rental booking platform, entered the travel industry market in 2008 and has grown extremely popular over the last 15 years, with more than 6 million listings around the world.

It has become so popular because it gives travelers the option of having more home-like accommodations, and it is often less expensive than a hotel.

Many Los Cabos visitors book Airbnbs for their vacations.

VRBO

VRBO was the online vacation rental booking site that began operating before Airbnb came into the picture.

The vacation rental booking site started out as Vacation Rentals By Owner in 1995 before becoming VRBO.

Today the site lists more than 2 million vacation rentals around the world, including in Los Cabos, and is a popular option for tourists visiting the destination.

TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor was launched in 2000 and is a little bit different from Airbnb and VRBO.

Rather than sticking strictly to vacation rentals, travelers can use TripAdvisor to book everything from flights to dinner reservations, as well as hotels and vacation rentals.

TripAdvisor is now one of the largest travel sites in the world, with more than 8 million listings that include airlines, cruises, attractions, activities, restaurants, and accommodations around the world, Los Cabos included.

Booking

In its original form, Booking.com was founded in 1996 as Bookings.nl.

It wasn’t until 2000 that it became what is known today as Booking.com, and its popularity has continued to grow since.

Just like with TripAdvisor, you can book more than just accommodations with Booking.com, and there are more than 29 million listings to choose from, with options in all categories in Los Cabos too.

Los Cabos On Booking Platforms

Although actual data numbers are not available, according to Francisco Madrid, director of the Center for Advanced Research in Sustainable Tourism of the University of Anahuac, “Los Cabos is one of the destinations that sells the most through these platforms.”

Many Los Cabos visitors book vacation rentals through all four platforms.

The reason there are so many Los Cabos vacation rentals on these platforms is that there are no strict laws against them in the destination, as there are increasingly in other vacation destinations.

The Benefits Of Booking A Hotel Or Resort In Los Cabos

Los Cabos is a destination that is known for its large collection of luxury hotels and all-inclusive resorts.

Many visitors to the destination opt for one of these as well.

The benefits of doing so are a better sense of security,  location, and the amenities that come with staying in a hotel or resort.

The Benefits Of Booking A Vacation Rental In Los Cabos

As mentioned earlier, vacation rentals are popular in Los Cabos, too, particularly for larger groups traveling together.

They offer affordability, more space, and home-like amenities but are not always in the tourist areas you want to be in when visiting Los Cabos.

If you do want to book a vacation rental, rest assured you’ll have no trouble finding one on one of these four booking platforms.
