Several beaches in Los Cabos just received one of the highest awards in Mexico for cleanliness and sustainability.
Five Award Winning Los Cabos Beaches
Five Los Cabos beaches popular with Los Cabos tourists were recently honored with one of the top honors in the country for factors related to overall cleanliness and sustainability.
The beaches of Las Viudas, Acapulquito, Santa María, Palmilla, and El Chileano all were recognized as honorees for Clean and Sustainable Beach, Platinum Beach and their Good Practices for a Healthy and Safe Environment.
The recognition was presented by the Mexican Institute of Standardization and Certification (IMNC), which used the Mexican national SEMARNAT Standard Certifications (NMX-120) as the basis for the honors.
Let’s take a look at each one of these award-winning beaches that are some of the local and tourist favorites.
Las Viudas Beach
Las Viudas Beach is well known to tourists in Los Cabos, conveniently located in the tourist corridor of the beach resort destination.

The beach is very popular with tourists looking for a place to enjoy a picnic.
Acapulquito Beach
Acapulquito Beach, also known as Old Man’s Beach, is a popular tourist corridor destination for surfers and paddleboarders.
Because of the long wave approach, it is especially good for learning these sports along with long-board surfers.
It is also a great place for tourists who enjoy swimming and snorkeling in Los Cabos.
Santa Maria Beach
Photographers love Santa Maria beach. The horseshoe-sheltered cove with calm waves makes a perfect tourist corridor backdrop for some of the most dramatic seaside pictures of Los Cabos.

It makes a good destination for tourists to enjoy taking long beachside walks or adventures renting on-site boats and kayaks.
There are other family-friendly amenities available at this popular beach for locals and tourists.
El Chileno Beach
Another Blue Flag beach in the Los Cabos tourist corridor, this is the beach locals flock to when spring breakers and tourists take over the popular El Medano beach.
It is not surprising that the beach received the honor for being a clean and sustainable beach as this is the reputation for this popular beach.
In fact, Los Cabos locals pride themselves on the fact that everyone chips in to keep this popular beach clean as a community pride effort.
El Chileno Beach is well known for its calm waters, good snorkeling conditions, and abundance of sea life in its tidal pools.
