It’s no secret that Los Cabos has a lot of beautiful beaches, it’s one of the main reasons for the growing popularity of the destination.
Both in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, as well as the surrounding areas, there are numerous beaches worth visiting, either for swimming, water activities or just to enjoy the view.
But there are four Los Cabos beaches, specifically, that are among the best in Mexico, according to Travel and Leisure.
The Beaches That Made The List
Travel and Leisure compiled a list of the 21 best beaches in all of Mexico, and four of them in that list are in the Los Cabos area.
Each of these beaches was chosen because they have something exceptional and unique to offer.
The Los Cabos area beaches that were chosen include:
- Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) – Cabo San Lucas
- Playa Balandra – La Paz
- Playa Cerritos – Todos Santos
- Playa El Medano (Medano Beach) – Cabo San Lucas
A little information about each of these beaches will help you decide which ones you want to visit on your Los Cabos vacation.

Playa Del Amor
Playa del Amor is only one of two beaches in Cabo San Lucas that you have to take a boat to get to, the other being Playa Divorcio, located on the opposite side of Playa del Amor.
The boat ride is worth it, though, because the beach, which is on the Sea of Cortez, is beautiful, and so are the views of the Cabo San Lucas coast from the beach.
It’s also an excellent opportunity to get a glimpse of the Arch rock formation as well. Water taxis to Playa del Amor start at around $25 roundtrip.

Playa Balandra
Playa Balandra is located in La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, which is about two hours from Los Cabos.
Also located on the calm waters of the Sea of Cortez, Playa Balandra is nothing if not stunningly beautiful; characterized by its turquoise water and lagoon-like characteristics, it is arguably the most beautiful beach in the region.
It is also an excellent beach for snorkeling too.

Playa Cerritos
The Magic Town of Todos Santos is only about an hour away from Los Cabos, and one of the most magical things about it is Playa Cerritos.
The Pacific beach is one of the few that beachgoers can swim in, but it’s also a great surfing beach as well.
In fact, Playa Cerritos has long been drawing in the surfing crowd and is the most famous beach in the area.

Playa El Medano
Last but certainly not least, the most famous beach in Los Cabos is Playa El Medano in Cabo San Lucas.
It’s no wonder this 2.5-mile-long beach made the list because not only is it beautiful and the most swimmable beach in the area, but the most lively too.
Lined with bars, restaurants, beach clubs, and watercraft rentals, it is the place where Los Cabos tourists go to have some fun in the sun.

Los Cabos Beaches
Many of the beaches in Los Cabos are not swimmable.
This is due to the strong currents and large waves that are characteristic of Los Cabos beaches.
The four beaches that made it to the Travel and Leisure list, though, are all swimmable beaches.

Los Cabos Beach Safety
Even the swimmable beaches in Los Cabos can be unsafe at times.
It’s important to pay attention to the beach warning flags.
If you see a black or red flag, it is not the time to go into the water, and even if it’s yellow, you should exercise extreme caution.
