Right now Los Cabos has a higher occupancy in its hotels and resorts than any other beach destination in the country.   

That being said, it’s important to consider the fact that a place like Cancun has many, many more hotels than Los Cabos.   

For the number of rooms Los Cabos has, though, it has the largest percentage of rooms filled.   

What Higher Occupancy Means For Tourists  

A destination like Los Cabos having higher occupancy rates does affect tourists.   

First of all, higher demand and lower inventory can mean higher rates, which may be part of the reason for the average hotel rate in Los Cabos being around $500 per night right now.   

Additionally, with fewer rooms available, it’s more important than ever to plan your vacation early in order to be able to get the hotel and/or room that you want.

You might be wondering why Los Cabos has grown so popular that it compares to places like Cancun now, and the answer is simple.

When looking at occupancy rates in Los Cabos for July of this year compared to the same month in 2023, it’s actually 3 percent lower.   

Despite that drop, the destination still has higher occupancy than any other Mexican beach destination.   

Again, occupancy doesn’t necessarily mean that a destination is more popular, just that it has a higher percentage of its rooms occupied.   

The Transition Los Cabos Is Seeing Right Now 

While July’s occupancy is slightly lower than last year in Los Cabos, room rates continue to grow.   

This is because the destination is going through a transition right now.   

It’s becoming more of a luxury destination than ever before, attracting high-end travelers from around the world, particularly from the United States.   

What Kind Of Accommodations Book The Most 

There are several different types of accommodations that are popular in Los Cabos.   

Airbnbs, traditional chain hotels, luxury and super luxury hotels, all-inclusives, and boutique hotels.   

The ones that are probably booked the most are vacation rentals, all-inclusive resorts, and luxury hotels.
