Los Cabos Will Add More U.S. Nonstop Flights In 2026 — These Cities Are Most Likely

We at The Cabo Sun have been tracking airline talks closely, and the headline news is simple: more nonstop options from the U.S. are on the way in 2026.

Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) confirms it’s working with U.S. carriers on additional direct routes—and even called out one city that’s already locked.

What’s confirmed (so far)

Indianapolis (IND) — first-time-ever nonstop to Los Cabos.

Airport officials say Southwest will run a Spring Break window on Saturdays from March 5 to April 6, 2026. That adds a brand-new U.S. origin to the map and fits Cabo’s proven “test it seasonally, then grow it” model.

Quick tip: We’ve already broken down how these Saturday-heavy schedules work—and the smart ways to snag seats—when we covered 9 new nonstops confirmed for 2025 and other scheduling tweaks.

The current baseline (and why that matters)

Right now, Los Cabos connects nonstop to 32 U.S. airports, spanning big hubs (LAX, DFW, DEN) and a growing roster of mid-market cities (BNA, STL, MCI). That footprint is the launchpad for 2026 expansion.

FITURCA reiterated the count and said it’s actively engaged with airlines on new U.S. cities for 2026. The agency also name-checked one key gap with pent-up demand—Boston—as a priority still lacking a nonstop today.

The most likely U.S. cities next (our ranked watch list)

1) Boston (BOS)Best large-market bet. FITURCA specifically highlighted BOS as a high-demand city with no nonstop to SJD today. Large O&D demand, multiple potential carriers (JetBlue, Delta, American), and a strong premium travel base make Boston the clearest front-runner.

2) San Antonio (SAT)Texas secondary play. Texas is already a Cabo stronghold, and SAT currently requires a connection. Southwest’s footprint plus strong leisure demand make a weekly seasonal plausible to test.

3) Tucson (TUS)Arizona’s #2 with cross-border leisure demand. TUS has international processing capability and a sizable weekend-escape market. A Saturday-only seasonal would mirror Cabo’s template in similar mid-size cities.

4) Washington, D.C. area (IAD)Mid-Atlantic hole. Baltimore (BWI) shows seasonal service, but Dulles (IAD)—a major United hub—remains a gap. A UA nonstop would complement Newark and JFK and serve a large, affluent catchment.

5) Fresno (FAT)California’s Central Valley wildcard. International-capable airport, steady Mexico travel base, and close-in leisure demand. If 2026 is about “secondary California,” FAT is a candidate for a limited seasonal test.

Why these five? Cabo’s route growth has followed a consistent pattern: establish demand via seasonal Saturday service, then extend or up-gauge if load factors and yields behave. That’s exactly how several mid-market routes entered the map, and it’s the playbook airlines know works here.

What travelers should do now

  • Plan around Saturdays. New routes typically debut with Saturday-only service during peak periods (Spring Break, winter sun). That’s your seven-night sweet spot. We walked through this cadence when we covered Southwest increasing Cabo frequencies from Kansas City—still a great primer on timing and flexibility.
  • Watch for announcements after airline schedule drops. Carriers tend to load seasonal additions in waves. FITURCA says talks for additional 2026 routes are active now.
  • Build “Plan B” from a big hub. Until your city goes nonstop, one-stop via Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Houston, LAX remains efficient. The current U.S. network to SJD is broad—use it.
