Last year Los Cabos welcomed more than 4 million tourists who arrived by plane at its airport in San Jose del Cabo.

It’s one of the most popular vacation destinations in Mexico because it has so much to offer.

One of those things is a level of safety and security that not all Mexican vacation destinations have, and now Los Cabos is prioritizing tourist safety even more, with the launch of a new transportation safety campaign called “Safe Transport.”

What Los Cabos Is Doing To Make Transportation Safer

Los Cabos is launching a surveillance operation that will randomly analyze different types of transportation that both citizens and tourists use to get around the destination.

Specifically, the operation will focus on the downtown, marina, and hotel areas where transportation services are utilized the most.

The “Safe Transport” operation will be carried out over the next several weeks to ensure providers are operating legally and safely.

Illegal Transportation Providers In Los Cabos

One of the reasons that Los Cabos officials are concerned with the safety of passengers using transportation in the destination is the growing number of illegal transportation providers.

There has been an issue with both illegal platform drivers, like those that offer services through apps like Uber, and pirate taxi drivers.

The concern is that these drivers could be lacking the proper requirements, such as sufficient insurance policies, or that these illegal drivers have ulterior motives.

Public Transportation Vs. Private Transportation

If you’ll be visiting Los Cabos soon, you might be wondering which transportation option is the best and the safest.

The fact is, most are perfectly safe, but there are some benefits to booking both public transportation and private transportation.

Public transportation is much more affordable, with buses only costing a few dollars a ride, but private transportation is much more convenient, though more expensive as well.

With private transportation, though, you’re not leaving your vacation time to fate.

You can schedule it for whenever you need to and spend less time waiting and more time vacationing.
