According to the Global Institute of Wellness, the wellness tourism boom began before the pandemic. However, there was little in the way of dedicated ‘wellness vacations’, which quickly changed after Covid-19.

The Institute’s findings state that currently, Mexico has the greatest presence of wellness vacations, activities, and resorts in Latin America, making them a world leader in this market.
The Executive President of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, Lilzi Orcí Fregoso, commented that the pandemic very much triggered this trend amongst travelers, who were initially keen to holiday in nature and find open spaces where they could connect with the world without running the risk of contagion.
Key factors that tourists look for on wellness vacations are being in direct contact with nature, such as the ocean, mountains, or countryside. Similarly, good nutrition, physical activity, and meditation are all staples of a wellness vacation.

Two of the hotels in Los Cabos which have been recognized for having some of the best wellness services in the region include Casa Dorada and One Only Palmilla.
One Only Palmilla has been widely recognized by publications, including Travel + Leisure. The resort was also highlighted, along with The Resort at Pedregal, as having five diamonds for their high level of services related to the well-being of guests.
Los Cabos has quite an extensive list of establishments that have been recognized for their fantastic wellness offerings, including Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort, which was named as one of the three best spas in Mexico and South America by Condé Nast Travel.

He stated that it is of great importance to Los Cabos that they maintain the current level of competitiveness in the wellness tourism industry, which became an unexpected niche for them during the pandemic, by continuing to build, develop and work with brands on providing excellent wellness offerings in the region.
Los Cabos has become a hugely popular tourist destination due to its range of outdoor attractions. Hotels such as One Only Palmilla, Ranch Pescadero, and Paradero Todos Santos are all resorts that have been in the spotlight for offering farm-grown, nutritious food and wellness programs to their guests.
Popular activities in Los Cabos include visiting the Sea of Cortez on boat trips, whale watching, or doing water sports, as well as hiking in the hills and mountains. Most luxury hotels in Los Cabos contain spas, often allowing guests to enjoy multiple swimming pools, hot tubs, and treatments.
