We’ve been tracking the local weather reports, and authorities in Los Cabos just issued a serious warning about a massive heat spike hitting us right now.
Temperatures are expected to climb as high as 38°C (over 100°F!) between now and Friday. This isn’t just “nice pool weather“—it’s a level of heat that requires some real caution.
🌡️ How To Handle The 38°C Heatwave
Civil Protection is urging everyone to take extra precautions against heatstroke and dehydration this week. The sun here is no joke, and it can catch you off guard if you aren’t careful.
If you are out exploring the marina or hitting the golf course, keep these simple rules in mind:
- Avoid the Peak: Stay away from heavy outdoor activities between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM when the sun is at its strongest.
- Hydrate Constantly: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty yet.
- Seek the Shade: Stick to the shade as much as possible to keep your body temperature down.
🌀 Why This Heat Matters For Hurricane Season
I found it really interesting that this heatwave is actually a preview of the upcoming storm season.
The official tropical cyclone season for the Pacific kicks off this Friday, May 15.
The ocean surface is currently more than 3 degrees warmer than normal.
That extra heat is basically “fuel” that creates more humidity and energy for storms to grow.
Experts are predicting a very active year ahead:
- 18 to 21 Storms: The Pacific could see up to 21 tropical cyclones this season.
- Baja Risks: There is a strong possibility that one or two of these systems could impact Baja California Sur directly.
- Heavy Rains: Some areas in Los Cabos are at risk for massive rainfall totals if a storm moves in.
