More and more these days, flights are being delayed or canceled for reasons beyond our control, and sometimes it’s multiple flights at a time, leaving hundreds at the airport wondering what to do.  For some, the delays are too short to leave the airport but too long to sit in place and wait comfortably.  For those leaving Los Cabos, we’ll share some ideas on how to spend your time at Los Cabos Airport when your flight is delayed, and these tips will help those who get to the airport early too.

Shopping

Getting stuck at Los Cabos Airport is bad enough, but having to sit there with nothing to do is even worse.  Fortunately, there are a few places you can shop at the airport to help pass the time, including two duty-free shops located in Terminal 2, where you can buy tax-free goods like tequila, food items, and beauty products.  There are also eight different boutique-style shops spread out between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Restaurants

Depending on how long you are stuck at the airport, you may want to eat while you’re there, and there are plenty of options.  Those options include:

  • Subway
  • Sbarro
  • Starbucks
  • Boston Dogs
  • Wings
  • Dominoes
  • Carl’s Jr.
  • Burger King
  • Medas

Upon arriving, be sure to check for current opening hours, as many of these places close before 8:00 pm.

Bars

There are also a couple of bars at Los Cabos International Airport.  Both the Corona Bar and the Green Bar also offer food and are great places to have a drink while waiting for your flight.  Like the restaurants, though, they do close somewhat early, so make sure you find out how late they’re open so you can get in there before closing.

VIP Lounges

A VIP Lounge is your best option for getting comfortable when you have a long wait at Los Cabos Airport.  There are two lounges, one in Terminal 1 and one in Terminal 2, that provide complimentary food and drink, including alcohol, and a more restful place to relax.  Day passes for the lounges are around $40 USD, unless you get free entry with a credit card you have, as there are a number of them that offer free entry into many airport lounges.

Nearby Hotels

If your wait at the airport is going to be really long or your flight has been pushed back a day, then you may want to opt for a hotel, even if it isn’t for the entire night.  There is a hotel, Hotel Aeropuerto, that is located right in front of the airport that currently runs around $100 USD a night.  They also provide a complimentary breakfast, which is nice to have before going back to the airport.

Kid’s Club

If you’re traveling with kids, a delay is even more complicated, as kids simply don’t understand and may get a little cranky waiting for hours.  Fortunately, at Los Cabos Airport, there is a kids club connected to the two-story lounge located in Terminal 2 of the airport.  There are video games, a pool table, a ping pong table, and for the little ones, there is even a ball pit, and for the weary parents, there is a Starbucks right next door.

Nobody wants to wait for hours at the airport, but during these unprecedented times of long wait times checking in, delays, and cancelations, it could happen.  Fortunately, at Los Cabos Airport, there are some amenities to help pass the time, because when there is nothing you can do to fix the situation, you might as well make the most of your time so you can end your Los Cabos vacation on a positive note.

Thirsty, spend your time thirsty, do not let them blackmail you with those stupid 10 dollar fiji waters. All restaurants and shops are in cahoots to scam you for water. Don't let them.
