Los Cabos has become so popular in recent years that its popularity has started to extend outward to other nearby destinations as well.

One of those destinations is the state of Baja California Sur’s capital city of La Paz.

La Paz is about to become even more popular because new nonstop flights from the U.S. to this nearby hotspot will begin this fall.

Why Visit La Paz?

If you know anything about La Paz, this new option might have you thinking “Move over Los Cabos,” because it has plenty to explore.

Let’s take a look at why you might want to add La Paz to your bucket list of destinations to visit.

First, we’ll go over all the details of the new flights that will soon be available.

From L.A. To La Paz

Flights from Los Angeles to La Paz will start being offered in November of this year, with the first flight taking off from LAX on the 20th of the month.

Alaska Airlines will offer the flight, which can seat 76 passengers.

It’s been more than 15 years since American travelers could fly to La Paz from the U.S.

Flight Availability Beginning In November And In The Future

Alaska Airlines will initially be operating two weekly flights between La Paz International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.

Flights will depart from LAX at 10:45 in the morning on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and arrive in La Paz at approximately 2:12 in the afternoon.

Return flights on both days will depart from La Paz at 3:02 pm, arriving back at LAX at 4:41 pm.

Starting next year, the number of weekly flights available will be bumped up to three and will operate on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Not A First For Alaska Airlines

This isn’t the first time that Alaska Airlines offered flights to La Paz from Los Angeles.

The airline announced in 2006 that it would begin offering flights between the two cities but stopped the service just a few short years later.

Once the new flights begin, Alaska Airlines will be the only airline to fly from the U.S. to La Paz.

How Much Will It Cost To Fly From The U.S. To La Paz?

It goes without saying that flight prices are not always predictable, change frequently, and vary considerably depending on the dates and days of the week you travel.

Looking at roundtrip tickets for the L.A. to La Paz flights, though, prices seem pretty consistent after the first couple, which are priced higher, likely due to demand.

Starting on November 30th, ticket prices seem to stay fairly consistent in the $400 – $500 range.

Getting From La Paz Airport To Your Hotel

Options for getting from La Paz Airport to your hotel are pretty similar to those you’ll find at Los Cabos International Airport.

Buses, taxis, shuttles, and private car services are all available.

For private transportation, which is your best option because you can book in advance and know what you’re paying ahead of time, you can expect to pay around $100 each way.

3 Great Reasons To Visit La Paz

La Paz has a lot to offer and something for everyone.

Of all the things to see and do, though, there are three main reasons to visit the destination.

They are:

  • Nature – In La Paz, in the Sea of Cortez, also known as the “Aquarium of the World,” you’ll find an abundance of different marine life to see.
  • Culture – La Paz is known for its artist community and laid-back, authentic vibe.
  • Beaches – La Paz has beautiful beaches, one of which was rated among the Top 10 beaches in the world, Balandra Beach.

Additionally, La Paz is a quieter alternative to the busy Los Cabos destinations when you want to escape the crowds.
