Top 6 Things To See When Visiting The Arch Of Cabo San Lucas

Perhaps the most iconic attraction to see in Los Cabos is the Arch of Cabo San Lucas, located in the Land’s End area, but it’s more than just a rock formation rising up out of the sea.  While it is an extraordinary sight to see from afar, it is a must to actually visit the Arch when in Los Cabos because there is so much more on this small piece of land off the shores of Cabo San Lucas to see.  In fact, in addition to the Arch itself, there are five other things to see, some more well-known than others, but all definitely worth seeing.

The Arch Of Cabo San Lucas

The Arch itself, also referred to as El Arco, is reason enough alone to take the boat ride out to this iconic attraction.  It was naturally formed by erosion and stands an astonishing three stories tall.  The Arch is surrounded by water and a sandy beach, and you are able to walk to it, but it’s a bit of a hike from the tip of the peninsula and over some large rocks and boulders.

Lover’s Beach

Lover’s Beach is not only beautiful and one of the best swimmable beaches in Cabo, but it has what some people believe is a beautiful story behind it too.  As the story goes, the name is based on an 18th-century couple, a local woman and a Japanese sailor, that fell in love after the woman rescued the sailor, and the couple spent a lot of time on the beach.  The other story behind the beach is that it is named Lover’s Beach because it’s where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez come together.

Divorce Beach

Divorce Beach is very beautiful too, but quite different from Lover’s Beach, mainly because it is absolutely not a swimmable beach.  In fact, the waters around Divorce Beach are extremely rough and are considered one of the most dangerous spots in Cabo San Lucas.  The beach is a beautiful place to spend a day on the soft sand sunbathing or picnicking, though, and it is frequented by Los Cabos tourists.

Pirate’s Cave

On the Pacific Ocean side of the area where the Arch is located, sitting on a portion of Land’s End, is Pirate’s Cave.  It’s characterized by a large opening between two huge rock formations and is said to have been a hiding spot long ago for pirate treasure.  The cave also forms a passageway to the famous Divorce Beach that sits on the other side.

Marine Life Of The Arch Of Cabos San Lucas

The marine life surrounding Land’s End and the Arch of Cabo San Lucas is diverse, and there is a lot of it because it flourishes in the environment due to the water being rich with nutrients.  This makes it a popular dive site, as there is everything from pufferfish to parrotfish that frequent the waters.  There is also a colony of sea lions that live in the area and can often be seen sunbathing on the beaches.

The Meeting of the Ocean and Sea At The Arch Of Cabo San Lucas

Finally, one of the most amazing sites to see when visiting this fascinating mass of land is not the land at all but where the ocean and sea meet.  On one side is the Pacific Ocean, and on the other the Sea of Cortez, and where the land ends is where the two bodies of water meet.  The division between the two, which is the Land’s End peninsula, makes each side two very different experiences.

The Arch of Cabo San Lucas has been photographed time and time again and is an iconic sight to see when visiting Los Cabos. But be sure to get the full experience and see all that there is to see.
