It wasn’t that long ago that a report came out that indicated that some tourists were not happy with the state of the marina and other tourist areas in Los Cabos.

The complaints were mainly about the upkeep, or lack thereof, in these popular tourist hotspots, but all that is about to change, because the marina area in Cabo San Lucas is about to get a major upgrade.

A new Los Cabos tourist area near the marina, called The Place at Cabo, was just launched, with new shops, and a hotel coming soon.

Take a look at what this old but new area has and will have to offer.

A Project Deserted Decades Ago

The site where The Place at Cabo is located has been sitting empty for nearly 30 years.

According to reports, the developer deserted the project due to issues related to the value of the peso at the time.

Now, developer Grupo Questro is in control of the development of the project, which is already underway.

The Decision To Restart The “Place At Cabo” Project

The decision to restart the project and complete The Place at Cabo resulted from the desire to improve the overall area.

The property’s unfinished state has been a blight on the community, diminishing the image tourists see when visiting the marina area in Cabo San Lucas.

The support of Los Cabos’ current mayor, Oscar Leggs, helped restart the project.

The Recent Inauguration Of The First Phase

On September 12th, the inauguration of the first phase of the project took place with the president of Grupo Questro, Eduardo Sanchez Navarro, in attendance.

In just days, the first shops that will call the complex home will begin to open to the public.

According to reports several European brands will be showcased within its walls.

Additionally, several food trucks installed within the complex will be opening soon as well.

Getting Around The Complex And More

There will also be two different types of transportation available at The Place at Cabo.

One is a trolley that will take visitors around the marina area and the Malecon.

The other is a boat tour that will travel from the marina in Cabo San Lucas to the marina in San Jose del Cabo, Puerto Los Cabos Marina.

Attractions Still To Come

As mentioned, this inauguration is only the first stage of the Place at Cabo project.

There is going to be so much more than stores and restaurants, including some pretty cool attractions.

Already there is art installed in the complex, as well as an area featuring sculptures.

The complex is reportedly also going to have a Ferris wheel and an interactive Baja museum.

The Hotel At The Place At Cabo

Later, a hotel will also open at The Place at Cabo.

It will feature 150 rooms, but aside from that, there is little information about it.

The hotel will be prepared and opened during the final stage of the project.

What The Area Has To Offer

The Cabos San Lucas marina area is a tourist hotspot for a reason.

It’s filled with restaurants, attractions, hotels, and shops of all kinds.

This is also where the area’s most popular beach, Medano Beach, is located.

Along this beach, you can find all kinds of beach clubs, cantinas, watercraft rentals, and more to make your Los Cabos vacation even more memorable.
