Los Cabos doesn’t necessarily need any more hotels, but as demand grows for the popular destination, it attracts more and more luxury brands to its desert and sea landscape.
This is why it’s no surprise that another property, a new luxury boutique hotel, will open in Los Cabos this month.
Although no exact date has been provided, sources say that the Tropicana Los Cabos is set to open in August.
The Tropicana Los Cabos
The Tropicana Los Cabos is perfectly located in the center area of San Jose del Cabo.
It’s just steps away from the well-known Plaza Mijares, the most vibrant area of the town, where events are held, and people gather in the evenings and on weekends.
It’s a renovation of an older hotel that is being rebranded as a luxury Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel.
Accommodations At Tropicana Los Cabos
A boutique-style hotel, the Tropicana Los Cabos is delightfully on the smaller side, a welcome change from the sprawling resorts Los Cabos is known for.
It has just 70 rooms and suites.
Each of the accommodations is decorated in a modern Mexican/Baja style.
Tropicana Los Cabos Room Types
You’ll find three different room types at the Tropicana Los Cabos.
The Courtyard Double is 270 square feet and features two full-size beds. ($183/Night)
The Courtyard King Terrace is 333 square feet and has a terrace overlooking the pool. ($263/Night)
Last but not least, there’s the Tropicana Suite, the largest of the rooms at the hotel, is 678 square feet, and has an even larger terrace with a hammock and views of the pool. ($367/Night)
The Hotel Property
The hotel property, though also on the smaller side, is equally well-designed and has a lot to offer.
It features a terrace for yoga sessions, a patio bar, and a wellness center that offers unique wellness therapies like sound healing with Tibetan singing bowls, meditation, and massages.
On the property, you’ll also find a heated pool and a hot tub to relax in at the end of a long day of sightseeing in down San Jose del Cabo.
Dining At The Tropicana Los Cabos
Although there are only a couple of restaurants at the new Tropicana Los Cabos boutique hotel, the creative options are sure to satisfy even the most distinctive palate.
Furthermore, the restaurants are just as unique as the rest of the hotel.
One is a farm-to-table restaurant called Cocina de las Californias, which serves dishes made with local ingredients from the land and sea.
The other is a more casual restaurant, El Patio, which is a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant that will offer dishes that pay homage to the Hispanic heritage of the region.
The Unique Amenities
Along with all of the other unique features of the newly reinvented Tropicana Los Cabos, there are also some unique amenities for guests to enjoy.
A game room with board games and a billiards table, and complimentary bike rentals are just a couple of those amenities.
Additionally, the hotel offers guests various excursions like whale watching tours, boat tours, cooking classes, and downtown San Jose del Cabo walking and e-bike tours.
A Little History About The Old Tropicana Inn
Prior to being reinvented to become the Tropicana Los Cabos, the property was called the Tropicana Inn.
The Tropicana Inn was built in 1956 and only had one restaurant and just 38 rooms.
The Tropicana Inn, despite its even smaller size back then, was an iconic spot where locals and visitors gathered to enjoy downtown San Jose del Cabo, and now it’s prepared to relive that history once again.
