The coastal water around Los Cabos can be a fantastically relaxing and enjoyable place to spend the warm days while on vacation in the destination.
Unfortunately, the coastal conditions in Los Cabos can change fast and get so difficult in many places that swimming becomes completely forbidden to protect travelers’ safety.
Currently, Los Cabos is seeing those conditions with some of its most popular beaches in the grip of rough seas, and now, with the arrival of large blooms of Jellyfish, swimming in the normally inviting water around Los Cabos is taken off the table.
Thankfully for travelers, there are plenty of ways they can cool off and enjoy the water when the beaches are a no-go for swimming.
Wild Canyon
One of Los Cabos’ hottest adventure parks, Wild Canyon has a huge choice of activities for travelers to enjoy, with ziplines, bungee jumping, and ATV tours to name a few.
Additionally, Wild Canyon also has a fantastic kids’ water park, a place that is perfect for families to relax by the water and splash around no matter what the conditions at sea are.
The amenities here are fantastic; with a kid-safe swimming pool built around a playpark and waterslide structure, the little ones won’t get bored. Furthermore, with the Lion’s Den snack bar, visitors won’t go hungry while enjoying a day at this small but kid-friendly water park.
Take To The Road
Just a couple of hours north of Los Cabos is the historic and culturally rich destination of La Paz.
This city is the capital of the state of Baja California Sur, and despite being passed over for decades by travelers, it is beginning to build a very positive reputation among travelers.
While the fantastic restaurants, beautiful colonial architecture, and authentic Mexican feel that many complain is lacking in Los Cabos are great reasons to visit, there is another contender for why travelers should visit: The beaches are fantastic.
Playa Balandra
This is a beach that travelers won’t regret visiting, with the stunning mix of blues and greens in the water making it look like artwork on a gallery wall; the backdrop here is perfect for a relaxing day at the beach.
What’s more, this beach is nestled far up the eastern coast of the Baja California Peninsula, and completely sheltered from the Pacific Ocean.
So, while conditions are rough and not safe for swimming in Los Cabos, travelers can take a short road trip up here and float peacefully in the waters of Playa Balandra.
For any traveler unsure if Playa Balandra is up to the same standards as the beaches in Los Cabos, it’s worth noting that Playa Balandra has in the past been crowned the best beach in the whole of Mexico.
Resorts To The Rescue
If a day at a water park, or a road trip to a neighboring destination just doesn’t quite cut it for travelers, there is still a fantastic alternative for those seeking to cool off in the water.
The resorts of Los Cabos, with their ever-improving amenities, have been trying to one-up each other for years, and an aspect that has always been a huge point of competition in their vacation packages is their pool facilities.
Throughout the destination, there are amazing pools to be enjoyed, ranging from rooftop infinity pools to relaxing lazy rivers that carry travelers in a sun-beaten loop around the resort.
The following are 2 of the most famous resort swimming pools in Los Cabos.
Hotel El Ganzo
Probably Los Cabos’ most famous infinity pool, this awesome facility is perched on the rooftop terrace of the celebrity favorite Hotel El Ganzo.
While the tasty cocktails, fresh sushi, and tasteful décor are all big selling points, the true star of the show here is the outstanding view across Los Cabos.
Chileno Bay Resorts & Residences
For travelers on an adults-only retreat, the pool facilities at Chileno Bay Resorts & Residences are ideal.
With extensive spa facilities, Jacuzzis, and floating bars all providing value, it’s the architecture and design of the adults-only pool that makes this one such an awesome experience.
Travelers would be forgiven for thinking they’ve been transported to an ancient Roman bath house with beautiful brick ceiling architecture, and the palm tree-lined panorama of the ocean is the icing on the cake.
