Vacations are meant to be a way to relax, rejuvenate, and let loose a little bit, but in the midst of all the fun, there are numerous things that can ruin a vacation.
This is true for any vacation destination and a worry that many travelers have. It can be even more of a concern when you’re visiting a foreign destination that you’ve never been to before.
So here are seven mistakes to avoid that can ruin your Los Cabos vacation, so hopefully, your trip can go off without a hitch!
Drinking Tap Water
While you might be used to filling up your reusable water bottle in the States and chilling it to take along with you where you go, this is something you want to avoid in Los Cabos.
While the water itself is not necessarily dangerous, the pipes that distribute the water can be contaminated. Stick to bottled water and avoid ice cubes as well so you don’t end up ill during your vacation.

Underestimating The Sun
Many people who aren’t used to sunny destinations underestimate just how hot the sun can get and end up getting burned, sometimes severely.
Don’t skimp on sunscreen, and wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and maybe even a hat if you plan to be in the sun for many hours at a time. Being in pain can sure put a damper on a vacation and sunburn is pretty avoidable.

Getting Lost
Some Los Cabos visitors rent a car so that they can explore some of the other beautiful areas of the region. This is a great idea, as there is plenty to see, but it is important to know where you’re going.
Los Cabos is a safe vacation destination, and so are most of the surrounding areas, but going off the beaten path and getting lost can get you into trouble with people with bad intentions and put an end to your vacation fun.

Eating The Wrong Street Food
Who doesn’t want to go to Mexico and indulge in a little street food? This is one of the top things on many travelers’ to-do lists, but you could end up sick if you’re not careful.
To be sure, not all street food is bad, but all it takes is slacking a little bit on keeping things up to temperature in the hot sun, and bacteria can form.
This could lead to food-borne illness that can make your vacation very uncomfortable, so pay attention to who you’re buying from.

Indulging In Too Much Alcohol
Not only does indulging in too much alcohol make you vulnerable to criminals that can take advantage of you, but it can get you in trouble with the law too.
Public intoxication can call law officers’ attention to you, and you could end up in jail. Neither situation is one you want to deal with and certainly would not be good vacation memories.

Having An Open Container
Another situation involving alcohol that you want to avoid is getting caught with an open container. While Los Cabos is seen as a party destination, it is still illegal to walk around areas undesignated for drinking with a drink in your hand.
Calling attention to yourself by doing so could lead to bigger problems with law enforcement that can ruin your vacation, either because you have to pay a stiff fine or due to having to bail yourself out of jail.

Booking The Cheaper Resort
Surely you’ve heard the terms “cheaper isn’t always better” and “you get what you pay for…” This is true for booking your Los Cabos resort too. There are some super luxurious all-inclusive resorts in Los Cabos and there are some cheaper hotels.
Those cheaper hotels may not be terrible, but they might not give you the vacation of your dreams that you’re expecting, so it’s important to set your expectations and look for your accommodations based on that if you want a truly memorable vacation.
