It is officially that time of year. The weather is perfect, the whales are jumping, and 50,000 American college students are about to descend on Los Cabos.
According to new data from the Los Cabos Hotel Association, the 2026 Spring Break season is shaping up to be massive. Hotel occupancy is projected to hit 80% in March, with 12 major resorts already completely sold out.
If you are a traveler who prefers a quiet glass of wine over a beerfest, this news might make you nervous. But don’t panic. The “chaos” is actually highly concentrated.
Here is the breakdown of exactly where the party will be—and how you can completely avoid it.

The “Red Zone”: Where NOT To Go
Lilzi Orcí Fregoso, the executive president of the Hotel Association, was very specific about where the crowds are going. The party is concentrated in Cabo San Lucas, specifically in the El Médano Beach area.
The “Sold Out” List:
The report explicitly names the hotel chains that are fully booked with Spring Breakers. If you are looking for peace and quiet, avoid booking these properties in March:
- Riu
- Pueblo Bonito (specifically the Rose/Blanco properties on Medano)
- Hotel Tesoro (downtown marina)
- Villa Group properties on Medano Beach.
The Survival Tip:
Avoid Medano Beach between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM. This is when the beach clubs (Mango Deck, etc.) are at peak volume.

The “Green Zone”: Where To Hide
The beauty of Los Cabos is that it is geographically segmented. You can be 20 minutes away from the party and feel like you are on a different planet.
The report notes that San José receives a “smaller proportion” of students. The vibe here remains sophisticated and calm. Resorts like Viceroy, Cabo Azul, or Hyatt Ziva are generally safe havens from the college crowd.

2. The Pacific Side (Diamante/Nobu)
The party requires proximity to downtown bars. Resorts located far up the Pacific Coast (like Nobu, Hard Rock, or Diamante) are too far from Squid Roe for most students to bother with the commute.
3. Todos Santos
If you want a guarantee of zero party noise, rent a car and drive an hour north. The “Pueblo Mágico” of Todos Santos attracts artists and surfers, not frat brothers.

The influx isn’t a single wave; it’s a five-week marathon.
- The Peak: The heaviest weeks are typically the second and third weeks of March (when Texas and California schools are out).
- The Taper: By the first week of April, the student crowds thin out, and the demographic shifts back to families and Easter travelers.
The Bottom Line
Spring Break in Cabo is intense, but it is contained. The “party zone” is really just a two-mile radius around the Marina and Medano Beach.
If you stay in the Corridor or San José, the only sign of Spring Break you will see is the traffic jam on the highway.
