Several popular vacation destinations in Mexico exist, and Los Cabos is considered one of the safest.

This is why it’s no surprise that millions of tourists visit every year to enjoy its stunning beaches, luxury hotels, and all-inclusive resorts.

If you’re headed to the destination and you’re worried about safety in Los Cabos, look at six reasons why you shouldn’t be.

Ongoing Surveillance

One way Los Cabos keeps tourists safe is by monitoring areas they frequent.

Places around the bars and nightclubs, the beaches, and the marina in Cabo San Lucas are constantly under surveillance.

Additionally, Los Cabos has recently increased surveillance in popular shopping areas.

Security Patrols

In addition to camera surveillance, Los Cabos often deploys the police and military to patrol the same tourist hotspots.

This is particularly the case during busy tourism seasons when thousands of tourists are flooding into the destination.

Specifically, during the winter season and spring break, patrols are increased to protect the huge number of visitors.

Safety Enhancements

Several other safety enhancements are implanted during the high seasons in Los Cabos as a way to improve security.

One of them is using K-9 units to deter criminals from committing crimes in popular tourist areas.

Additionally, Los Cabos recently launched a campaign to make transportation safer, called the “Safe Transport” operation, which involves randomly analyzing different types of transportation used in the destination.

The Use Of Technology

Another way Los Cabos keeps both locals and visitors safe is through the use of technology.

State-of-the-art drone technology, for example, is used by first responders for search and rescue missions, enhancing the ability to deal with emergencies quickly.

More than 300 security cameras are used for the monitoring of tourist hotspots as well, distributed throughout Los Cabos, in both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

The Location

Far removed from the mainland, at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, Los Cabos is shielded from a lot of the problems that some other areas of the country deal with.

This is perhaps one of the biggest reasons the destination is safer than so many other places.

The crime that takes place in certain areas doesn’t reach as far as where the land ends in Los Cabos, making it much safer than many other places.

Tourists Feel Safe In Los Cabos

Last but not least, what could make you feel safer than knowing that millions of other tourists feel safe when visiting Los Cabos?

This is according to a report based on recent statistics that came out at the beginning of the year, as reported by the Los Cabos Tourism Board.

In the report, it was highlighted that 87 percent of tourists who visited during a two-month period said that they felt safe while visiting Los Cabos.

This includes both domestic and international tourists.
