Los Cabos is an amazing vacation destination not only because it has so much to offer but also because it’s surrounded by other charming towns that offer unique experiences.

Todos Santos, the region’s only “Pueblo Magico,” is one of those towns.

It offers history, culture, and nature, and there are a few great reasons why summer is the perfect time to visit this charming “Magic Town” near Los Cabos.

Todos Santos

Todos Santos’s Location

Todos Santos is located just over 50 miles north of Cabo San Lucas, 65 miles northwest of San Jose del Cabo, and about 50 miles southwest of the state’s capital, La Paz.

The trip from Cabo San Lucas to Todos Santos takes around an hour and a little over an hour from San Jose del Cabo.

To get to Todos Santos, the best airport to fly into is Los Cabos International Airport.

What Is A Magic Town?

Magic Towns, also called Pueblo Magicos, are towns in Mexico known for their historical, natural, or cultural significance.

They are designated as Magic Towns by the Mexican government based on the significant heritage the town has.

When honored with this prestigious designation, the town commits to preserving its unique heritage.

Why Todos Santos Was Given Magic Town Status

Todos Santos was given the designation of being a Magic Town in 2006.

It was chosen to be added to the list of more than 175 Magic Towns in the country because of its historical, natural, and cultural significance, which can be explored through its art, food, and commitment to hospitality.

Travelers from all over the world visit Todos Santos to explore the cultural, historical, and natural wonders that can be found in the magical town.

Now let’s take a look at why summer is such a great time to visit Todos Santos…

Smaller Crowds

One of the great things about visiting Todos Santos in the summertime is that, like in Los Cabos, there are smaller crowds.

The summer months are the off-season in the destination, so there are far fewer people, which makes it a great time to stroll through the cobblestone streets.

Smaller crowds also mean more options for accommodations and sometimes even better deals too.

Amazing Weather & Amazing Beaches

Also like in Los Cabos, some of the beaches in Todos Santos are more suitable for surfing than they are for swimming.

That being said, there are some amazing swimmable beaches in Todos Santos too.

Playa Las Palmas and Playa Los Cerritos offer the best swimming and are both beautiful beaches.

Summer is the best time to enjoy these amazing beaches, with temperatures in the 90s, and very little rain to interrupt your beach days.

Turtle Nesting Season

Summertime is also the turtle nesting season in Todos Santos, and two different types nest during the summer months.

Black turtles start nesting in around August or September, and Olive Ridley turtles nest year-round.

You might be able to catch females laying their eggs on Todos Santos beaches if you visit at the right time.
