Los Cabos beaches are known for being some of the most stunning in Mexico, and travelers come from all over the world to visit them.   

They’re also known for being dangerous; some of them are even unsafe for swimming all the time.   

Others may become dangerous due to certain weather and atmospheric conditions.   

This is the case right now, and beachgoers are being warned to swim at their own risk on several Los Cabos beaches with hazardous conditions.   

Yellow Beach Warning Flags In Los Cabos 

Yellow beach warning flags are just one of five flags used to inform people about the current conditions of the water.   

The yellow flag signals that extreme caution should be used when swimming at beaches where the flag is posted.   

This is typically due to rip currents and/or large waves that make the water dangerous.   

Los Cabos Beaches With Yellow Flag Warnings 

Currently, there are a total of 9 Los Cabos beaches that have a yellow warning flag posted.   

They are located in different areas throughout the destination, including Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, and the Tourist Corridor.   

The beaches that are on that list include: 

• Medano Beach  

• Corsario Beach 

• Acapulquito Beach 

• Santa Maria Beach 

• Hacienda Beach 

• Chileno Beach 

• Palmilla Beach 

• Ribera Beach 

• Surgidero Beach  

Beaches In Los Cabos To Totally Avoid Right Now 

Another one of the beach warning flags that is important to watch out for is the red warning flag.   

This flag is posted to inform beachgoers that swimming is currently unsafe and prohibited at the beach where the warning flag is posted.   

There are a few beaches in Los Cabos that currently have red warning flags.   

They are Viudas Beach, and the Tourist Corridor beaches closest to San Jose del Cabo.   

Other Beach Warning Flags To Watch Out For 

The other three beach warning flags to watch out for are important too.   

The white flag is used to warn of the presence of dangerous marine life, like jellyfish.   

The black flag warns beachgoers that conditions are so dangerous that the beach is closed to visitors, and the green flag is an indication to beachgoers that the beach is open and the water is safe for swimming.   

What Makes Some Los Cabos Beaches So Dangerous? 

Several conditions contribute to making many of the beaches in Los Cabos dangerous.   

Some are present at certain beaches all the time, while others occur at certain times, usually due to weather.   

One is steep drop-offs in unpredictable places.   

Another is the strong currents that can carry swimmers out too far, and the last is large crashing waves that make it hard to navigate the water.   

When these conditions are present, you’re likely going to see a yellow, red, or black flag posted.   

Beaches In Los Cabos That Are Typically Safe For Swimming 

There are several beaches in Los Cabos that are on the list of beaches with yellow and red flag warnings right now that are typically safe for swimming.   

For obvious reasons, these are the beaches that are the favorites for tourists.   

They include: 

• Medano Beach 

• Lover’s Beach  

• Palmilla Beach 

• Santa Maria Beach 

• Chileno Beach 

How To Get To A Swimmable Beach If Your Resort Doesn’t Have One 

Because there are so many unswimmable beaches in Los Cabos, you could end up at a resort that doesn’t have a swimmable beach.   

Fortunately, it won’t be that difficult to get to one.   

Public transportation is cheap and goes around to most beaches, so you can essentially go to any Los Cabos beach you want during your vacation.
