In the wake of Hurricane Lorena’s pass over the southern tip of Baja California Sur, images of high winds and flooded streets have understandably flooded social media feeds. For the thousands of travelers with upcoming plans, this creates a wave of anxiety and one single, urgent question: “Should I cancel my trip to Los Cabos?”
Here at The Cabo Sun, we understand that concern. That’s why our team is on the ground today, walking the streets and beaches to give you the real, unfiltered story. The short answer is: Don’t put away those suitcases yet.

While the storm certainly made its presence felt, the story of its aftermath is one of incredible resilience and a recovery effort that is happening at a truly remarkable speed. You can see for yourself by viewing the live webcams below as well!
The On-The-Ground Reality: Minor Damage, Massive Response
We just took a walk around the Cabo San Lucas marina and the popular sands of Medano Beach to assess the situation firsthand. The powerful storm surge left its mark: some of the smaller panga boats in the marina were flipped, and the beaches are dotted with debris washed in by the high tide. The water near the shore is still a bit murky and brown from the runoff, a typical sight after a major rain event.
But here is the most critical takeaway for travelers: there was no major infrastructural damage to the hotel zone of Cabo San Lucas, the Tourist Corridor, or San José del Cabo. The resorts, restaurants, and core services that power this world-class destination are intact and already humming with activity.
Cabo’s Secret Weapon: A World-Class Recovery Machine
What new visitors may not realize is that Los Cabos has one of the most practiced and efficient post-storm recovery systems in the world. This is a destination built for resilience. Within hours of the storm passing, a coordinated effort between hotel staff, municipal workers, and the electric company (CFE) was in full swing.
The speed is astonishing. The roar of the wind was quickly replaced by the sound of machinery clearing sand from the roads. Hotel staff were immediately out in force, clearing pools, raking beaches, and preparing for guests. This is the “Cabo Strong” spirit in action; an all-hands-on-deck effort to ensure paradise is polished up and ready for visitors with incredible speed.

What To Expect For Your Upcoming Trip
While the official word from authorities is that the beaches will be in pristine condition within 10 days, what we are seeing suggests it will be much quicker than that.
- Beaches: The murky water is already dissipating as the ocean churns, and cleanup crews are working around the clock. By next week, you can expect the iconic golden sand and blue waters to be back in perfect form.

- Tours & Activities: As conditions improve, boat-based activities like fishing charters and tours to The Arch are resuming their operations. The most important advice for travelers is to contact your tour provider directly to get the latest update and confirm your reservation. Land-based tours and activities are generally unaffected and return to their normal schedules almost immediately.
- The Vibe: The resorts are open, the restaurants are serving, and the bars are pouring. You will see a destination in the final stages of a rapid cleanup, a testament to the hard work of the local community.

The decision not to cancel your trip is a vote of confidence in the incredible people who make Los Cabos a world-class destination. While Lorena left some minor damages, a bit of debris, and some temporary flooding, Los Cabos is already well on its way to a full recovery. The lasting effects of this storm will soon be only a memory.
