Los Cabos Among the World’s Most Fun Destinations According To New Ranking

Share The Article

If you’ve felt like Cabo has been on every friend’s camera roll lately, you’re not imagining it.

A U.S. News & World Report survey puts Mexico among the world’s most “fun” countries, and here at The Cabo Sun we’re not surprised—Los Cabos is one of the places that makes Mexico’s party-plus-play reputation pop.

What the new “fun” ranking actually measures

The “Most Fun Countries” list is drawn from the annual Best Countries project, which polls nearly 17,000 respondents in 36 nations and evaluates 73 attributes—from nightlife and entertainment to adventure and cultural buzz.

“Fun” sits inside the Adventure sub-ranking (think: lively nightlife, festivals, and places people perceive as exciting to visit).

In short, it’s a vibe check backed by data, not a popularity contest.

Why Los Cabos leads Mexico’s “fun” factor

Day-to-night energy. Start with a morning on Médano Beach, slide into a late-afternoon rooftop, then go full send after dark. Cabo San Lucas is home to icons like Cabo Wabo Cantina and El Squid Roe, plus chic rooftop lounges and live-music spots; San José del Cabo counters with craft breweries, DJ-driven nights at Crania, and a more laid-back artsy scene. Translation: you pick the tempo.

High guest satisfaction (and it feels safe). The Los Cabos Tourism Observatory reports traveler sentiment is not just strong—it’s improving. In the latest readout, 70% of visitors said Los Cabos exceeded expectations, and only 0.4% reported a fair/poor perception of safety—among the lowest levels they track. That combination—fun and comfortable—is exactly what keeps trips rolling from “let’s try Cabo” to “we’re coming back next year.”

Always-on events and easy choices. From sport fishing and yacht parties to art walks and culinary pop-ups, there’s always something happening around the marina, along the Tourist Corridor, and in San José’s historic center. You can tailor “fun” your way—late nights in Cabo San Lucas, or long lunches and mezcal tastings before mellow music in San José.

Traveler tips to maximize the fun in Cabo

  • Pick your home base by vibe. For clubs and beach clubs within walking distance, stay near the Cabo San Lucas marina or Médano Beach. For galleries, mezcalerías, and slower evenings, base in San José del Cabo and rideshare to CSL when you’re ready to turn it up.
  • Weekend strategy. Fridays and Saturdays are peak nights; book dinner and daybeds ahead, especially in high season (Nov–Apr). That’s when the energy—and the guest list—skews buzzy.
  • Plan a “split personality” day. AM boat to the Arch and Lover’s Beach, siesta, golden-hour rooftop, then live music or a DJ set. It’s the classic Cabo arc for a reason.
  • Stay smart about the ocean and logistics. Beach days are better when you respect flag warnings and currents, and nights are easier if you keep a rideshare app handy and set a meeting point near the marina. (Local sentiment on safety remains overwhelmingly positive, but common-sense street smarts still apply.)

What this ranking means for your next trip

Rankings don’t create the fun—you do—but they shine a spotlight on places where the good times are built-in.

Mexico’s strong showing on U.S. News’ list simply validates what travelers already feel on the ground in Los Cabos: it’s effortless to have a great time here, whether your idea of fun is sunrise paddles, yacht days, mezcal flights, or dancing under the stars.

We’ll watch for additional lists and updates as the 2025 season rolls on, but for now, consider this your nudge to lock the dates and start planning.
