In San Jose del Cabo, the beaches are not swimmable, but they are still great beaches.   

The top beach in San Jose del Cabo is Costa Azul, but it definitely is not suitable for swimming.   

Costa Azul is a popular beach among the surfing community, but is a beautiful beach for beach walks and sunbathing as well.   

Top Beaches Along The Tourist Corridor 

The Tourist Corridor is where tourism officials say are the most top beaches in Los Cabos.   

Three of the beaches that made the list are in this area, which starts just outside of San Jose del Cabo and runs all the way to Cabo San Lucas.   

The three beaches that made the list are Santa Maria Beach, Chileno Beach, and Palmilla Beach, all of which have great swimming conditions and smaller crowds than Medano Beach.

Lover’s Beach is also very popular among tourists and is also a swimmable beach, located across the bay from Medano Beach, next to the famous Arch.

Because many Los Cabos beaches are unswimmable, it’s important to know which ones are safe for swimming.   

Los Cabos uses a beach warning flag system to relay this information.   

• Beaches with a green flag are safe for swimming.   
• If you see a yellow flag it indicates that you should exercise caution when swimming.   
• If a red or black flag is present, then under no circumstances should you risk getting in the water.   
• When a white flag is posted it means that there could be dangerous marine life present.
