Los Cabos has become one of the most popular vacation destinations in Mexico, famous primarily for its stunning beaches and striking scenery.
But there are more reasons to visit this much-loved region of the Baja Peninsula than just the fact that it makes for an unbelievable beach vacation.
Here are 7 things you probably didn’t know about Los Cabos that will make you want to book your vacation right now:
There Are Swimmable Beaches
It’s very likely that if you know someone who has visited Los Cabos, you have probably heard about the unswimmable beaches.
Many times tourists will stay at a resort without a swimmable beach and just assume all beaches in Los Cabos are unswimmable.
Fortunately, this is not the case, as there are a number of beaches where visitors can swim, including the very famous Medano Beach, located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas.
Other beaches in Los Cabos suitable for swimming include:
- Santa Maria Beach
- Chileno Beach
- Lover’s Beach
- Palmilla Beach

There are over 900 species of fish swimming in the waters and more than 40 species of marine mammals living in the sea.

You Can Scuba Dive To See Sandfalls
In addition to the diverse variety of marine life that lives in the Sea of Cortez, there are other wonders to be found in the waters surrounding Los Cabos.
One such wonder, underwater sandfalls, is a phenomenon that you can see in very few places in the world, and Cabo San Lucas is one of them.
The sandfalls here can be found in the Land’s End area, where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez meet.
The friction between the Pacific and North America’s tectonic plates is what causes the mind-bending sandfalls.
Because of their depth, though, you’ll have to be a scuba diver to see them.

70 Percent Of Residents In Cabo San Lucas Are American And English Is Widely Spoken
You might be surprised to learn that as much as 70 percent of the residents living in Cabo San Lucas are American ex-pats.
These are individuals who are digital nomads or retired that can live anywhere in the world and choose Los Cabos.
And because of the huge American population, English is widely spoken, so there is not as much of a language barrier as when visiting many other Mexican vacation destinations.
@omit.the.boring Id say its a 50/50 split, American to Canadian. But with Americans, they visit from mainly the western hemisphere, while Canadians visit from all across their country. I thought that was an interesting bonus fact. #outsidethebox #expats #cabo #mexico #americans #canadians #loscabos #traveltok #nowyouknow ♬ original sound – ParmeSean / The Cabo Guy
