There is a lot to do in and around Los Cabos, but you only have so much time to explore on one vacation, so it’s important to choose how to spend your time wisely. One of the best ways to do that is to listen to what the local experts (i.e., the Los Cabos Tourism Board) have to say regarding the best things to do when visiting Los Cabos.
Below are six must-have experiences in Los Cabos, according to local experts:
Desert Adventure In Los Cabos
As the saying goes, “when in Rome…,” and when you visit Los Cabos, it only makes sense to take some time to experience a desert adventure. The desert, which is a stunning scene against the breathtaking Sea of Cortez, can be explored by foot, camel, horse, dune buggy, or ATV. In addition to a wide range of plants and cacti that can be seen along the way, desert adventurers can also try sandboarding for a truly unique adventure.
Visit Santiago
Less than an hour from San Jose del Cabo sits the small town of Santiago, which consists of not much more than a small plaza and a few necessary establishments but is well worth a visit. Here you’ll find fruit orchards and agricultural farms, as well as a market selling local fruits and vegetables, and palm trees as far as the eye can see. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Santa Rita and El Chorro hot springs, which are only about five miles outside of the town.

Sol De Mayo Ecotourism
Rancho Ecologico Sol De Mayo is also located in Santiago in the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range, in the Biosphere Reserve. The area is home to nearly 300 plant species and over 150 species of birds, but the best part is the waterfall and freshwater pool that you can swim in. The park is open from 8 am – 6 pm, and the cost for entry is around $8 USD.
Mountain Hiking And Biking In Los Cabos
The Sierra de la Laguna mountain range also offers some great opportunities for hiking and mountain biking as well. The El Refugio Ecological Ranch provides guided tours of the area, including walking tours. But for a real challenge, visitors can hike or bike the El Picacho trail, which is more than four miles above sea level and will not only provide you with some beautiful natural scenery but an adrenal-filled adventure as well.
Exploring Cabo Pulmo
In Cabo Pulmo, only about two hours from Cabo San Lucas, you’ll find a protected marine area that spans more than 17,000 acres and is one of the world’s best national marine parks. The Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has more than 800 marine life species. It offers some of the best snorkeling and diving in Baja, California, and is a fantastic place to enjoy the calm Sea of Cortez waters without the huge crowds.
Los Cabos Wellness Experiences
Los Cabos is an unbelievable place to experience wellness activities in a wide variety of forms. Nearly every luxury all-inclusive resort has a state-of-the-art spa where you can enjoy everything from massages to blissful spa treatments, but there are some unique wellness options to experience as well. Hot springs, temazcal ceremonies, beach yoga, ancient cacao ceremonies, and more await in this mesmerizing destination that is perfect for enhancing your wellness.
Los Cabos Is Worth More Than One Visit
