It’s the Oscars of the public beaches in Mexico. Four of the beaches in the capital of Baja California Sur were recently honored with the prestigious platinum recognition, placing them among the top beaches in the entire country.
The Platinum Recognition
The platinum level recognition is one of the top honors bestowed upon the beaches in Mexico by the Mexican Institute of Standardization and Certification (IMNC).
A total of four of the popular tourist beaches in La Paz recently walked away with the honor.
Platinum level beaches in Mexico provide visitors to the country with some of the most pristine sand and surf available anywhere in the country.
They also recognize the efforts of sustainability and the focus on maintaining the natural beauty of the surroundings for tourists.
“Sun, sand and beach destinations are no longer what we conceived before,” said the General Director of IMNC, Viviana Fernández Camargo. “The new trend is its protection, care and providing services that are sustainable, safe, and recreational spaces that we can enjoy without affecting our environment.”
She recognized El Saltito, Balandra 1, Balandra 2, and El Coromuel beaches in La Paz in a recent ceremony held at El Coromuel beach.
Balandra Beaches
Where can we start to discuss the amazing scenery and experience travelers have when visiting the signature beach in La Paz, the Balandra beaches.
It’s a unique place where soft white sand beaches combine with a special wildlife zone where travelers can get up close and personal with some of the sea creatures that call Baja California home.
Balandra beaches are a place for nearly everyone. Travelers can lounge in the sand, swim in the calm turquoise water or even snorkel with sea life all in one place.
It is so special that local officials have had to limit attendance and charge an admission fee to visit.
Be sure to head to this special beach early for the best opportunity to encounter what makes Balandra beaches platinum beach destinations.
El Coromuel Beach
Conveniently located in the tourist zone of La Paz, El Coromuel Beach is a true traveler’s favorite for many generations of visitors.
Families love this beach because of the gentle waters and plenty of palapas and other family-friendly amenities so travelers of all ages can enjoy their time at El Coromuel.
It also has received a special destination of being a blue flag beach.
El Saltito Beach
Tourists love El Saltito beach because of its calm turquoise waters and its nearby coral reef that brings together what travelers love most about the sun, sand and surf in one location.
Along with the waters, visitors from around the world make their way here to enjoy the scenic rock-cropped vistas and plenty of panoramic views of the amazing Sea of Cortez.
Commitment to Serve
The awards truly recognize the efforts of the many workers in La Paz who dedicate themselves to making sure that travelers to the capital city of Baja California Sur experience some of the top beaches in the country.
The Mayor of La Paz, Milena Quiroga Romero, recognized the tireless contribution of the workers, along with the community’s citizens, in their efforts to ensure that travelers have the best beaches in Mexico for their vacation getaway.
