Last Updated

Los Cabos is characterized by a desert climate, so it’s expected that it will be hot there during the summer months, especially in July and August.

But temperatures have been higher than usual, and a new heat wave, the third one of the year so far, is currently affecting the region.

These high temperatures can make being outdoors nearly unbearable, but there are five ways to enjoy yourself during a Los Cabos heat wave.

Summer Weather In Los Cabos

Average temperatures in Los Cabos during the summer months typically hover right around 90 – 92 degrees Fahrenheit.

This summer has been an exception, though, with temperatures in recent weeks reaching the high nineties on many days and even the low 100s on a few days.

These temperatures can put a damper on spending time outdoors, but there are still plenty of ways to have fun, both in and out of the sun.

1) Stay Safe In The Heat

The first thing to remember if you want to enjoy the outdoors when it’s as hot as it has been in Los Cabos is that you have to stay safe in the heat.

If you don’t hydrate yourself, protect your skin from the sun, take some breaks in the shade, and avoid drinking too much alcohol, a good time can turn into a bad one very quickly.

Overexposure to heat and sun is avoidable, so don’t ruin your vacation by not protecting yourself.

2) Best Ways To Cool Off

Even when it’s hot outside during your Los Cabos vacation, there are ways to cool off.

Water activities, such as snorkeling and swimming, and boat tours with shaded areas on the boat, allow you to cool off while still enjoying Los Cabos’ number one asset, the sea.

You can also spend the day at a beach club under an umbrella or cabana, which, in addition to offering shade from the sun, provides the added bonus of being able to order a nice cold beverage anytime you want to.

3) Avoid Eating Improperly Stored Street Food In High Temperatures

Something you want to avoid in the high temperatures plaguing Los Cabos right now is improperly stored street food, which can really take all of the fun out of your vacation.

Officials have been warning tourists of this amidst the ongoing heat wave and have been inspecting street food vendors to ensure that they are properly storing their food.

Seafood, in particular, tends to spoil quickly in excessive heat.

4) Utilize Your All-Inclusive Resort Property To Stay Cool

If you’re faced with a sweltering day, or days, during your Los Cabos vacation, you also have the option of spending more time utilizing your all-inclusive resort property to stay cool.

All of these properties have at least one amazing pool, and some even have their own water parks.

The spa is another way to enjoy yourself despite the excessive heat, and you can always spend a day visiting the property’s bar and lounges too.

5) Find Things To Do Indoors

If it’s really hot during your trip to Los Cabos, you could just spend more time indoors too.

There are some great places to shop and see a movie, like Luxury Avenue, where you’ll find some fantastic high-end shops, and Plaza Puerto Paraiso, which has stores, restaurants, a theater, and even a casino.

You can also spend some time visiting museums in Los Cabos, in the gallery district in San Jose del Cabo, for example, or the Museum of Natural History in Cabo San Lucas.

Why Tourists Visit Los Cabos In The Summertime

Tourists visit Los Cabos because of the warm weather year-round, but sometimes it’s a little bit too warm.

Don’t pass up the chance to save money and enjoy fewer crowds by visiting during the summer months, though.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy yourself if the heat becomes too much during your visit.
