Los Cabos was one of the favorite destinations for American travelers, according to the report.

March is potentially going to be the busiest month for worldwide travel, at least according to search tendencies on the platform. TripAdvisor claims that at least 66% of the people that they surveyed were looking to travel within the month of March.

Cabo just snuck into the top 10 most searched international destinations by worldwide travelers. It shares the list with cities like Paris, London, and Dubai.

When it comes to just beach cities, Los Cabos is the third most popular destination, just behind Cancun and Punta Cana.

Barcelona, Spain is on the list, but this is a city that isn’t necessarily considered a traditional beach destination.

Los Cabos is even more popular amongst American travelers. Americans have Cabo as their third favorite international travel destination — only behind Cancun and Punta Cana again. More Americans are actually interested in coming to Los Cabos compared to cities like London or Paris.

Travelers Are Worried About Costs, But Accept They Have To Pay More

American travelers seem to have a complicated relationship with their travel budgets this year. Out of those surveyed, 66% admitted that cost was the main factor in deciding where they wanted to travel. At the same time, more than 50% of those questioned accepted the fact that they would have to pay more money to travel this year than they did in 2022.

This realization is leading many U.S. travelers to potentially shorten the length of their trips while also choosing destinations closer to home. 58% of the Americans polled mentioned that they were willing to change their travel plans to mitigate the rise in living costs.

This idea can potentially hit Cabo in the long run. Since only 18% of those questioned said that they were willing to spend big on an international trip. Americans are overwhelmingly choosing domestic tourism over international options.

Cabo is potentially cashing in big on return guests. With people worried about the rise in travel costs, this has led the majority (around 66%) to choose to visit destinations that they’ve traveled to before. Even though most people are aware of the fact that they’ll pay more for their 2023 vacation, visiting a place you already know can help reduce surprise expenses.

Speaking of increased travel costs, inflation concerns continue to be a hot topic for travelers. Only 37% of those polled mentioned they would not alter their travel plans due to increased costs.

Was Last Week Potentially The Busiest Of The Spring?

According to the report, the majority of American travelers who were going to head out to any destination this Spring did so this past week. Travel dates from the 8th of March through Monday the 14th marked the most popular travel dates selected by travelers on TripAdvisor. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Cabo has lived through the busiest week of the Spring travel season just yet.

Avid Travelers Are On The Rise Among Americans

Even though most American travelers are going to choose to travel domestically, there’s a niche of travelers that’s growing considerably amongst Americans. That is the traveler that is willing to take more trips per year. 17% of Americans who are looking to travel this year will do so in 3 to 5 trips spaced out throughout the year. A lucky 4% of Americans are planning on taking more than 6 separate trips this year.

The rise in remote work availability may very well be one of the reasons why more Americans are able to travel this much. Cabo hopes to be one of the destinations that can capture the attention of the avid American traveler.
